TUESDAY. MARCH 5th 1929.
The Board of County Commissioners in and for Indian River County, Florida, met at
the Court House in Vero Beach, on 'Tuesday, March 5th 1929 at 10 o'clock A.M. with the
following members of the Board present: Albert 0. Helseth, Chairman; J. D. Yongue;
J. V. LaBruce; J.J.7P.Hamilton and John H. Atkin.- Also present were Miles Warren,Clerk
and Clark S. Rice, sheriff.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
It was moved by Commissioner J. D. Yongue, that the salary of certain designated
employees of the County, coming under the jurisdiction of this Board be set as follows
County Engineer, .5275.00 per month
Clerk of Board §125,00 per month
Attorney for Board U25.00 per month
after suggestion, the motion of J. D. Yongue was withdrawn until the next regular
meeting of this Board.
Mr. Fletcher representing Sebastian Groves Company appeared before the Board
regarding road drainage into private canal. It was ordered that the County Engineer
and Commissioner Yongue look this over and ascertain what can be done.

Application of Mrs Ada stokes of Sebastian to be placed on the Mothers Pension
list having been duly approved by the Board of Public Instructions of the County, on
motion made, seconded and carried it was ordered she be so placed on said list to
receive the sum of J20.O0 per month.
Samuel A. Rice appeared before the Board regarding repairs to road designated as
Road B-9 77e est. It was agreed an effort will be made to have the road graded before
the tomatoe season comes in.
Jas. J. Rick, agent, appeared before the Board regarding rent or removal of pro-
perty of Lawrence Construction Co. which is mortgaged to Vero Beach Bank & Trust Co.

which mortgage was delivered to this Board for security of County funds. The
Board agreed to guarantee the rent on the building for month of March at the rate of
025.00 per month.
D. A. Moran appeared before the Board regarding Bridge at Lateral '"A" and road
A-5 requesting bridge be repaired. It was ordered that bridge be built and fill be
made as soon as the County Engineer can get to this work and there are sufficient
funds available to pay for some.

Mir. days of Winter Beach appeared before the Board regarding ditch repairs and

authority to build a bridge at Quay Bridge in order to facilitate handling of fish.
It was ordered that bridge be built and ditch be opened at Mr. Maya' expense and under
the direction and supervision of the County Engineer, provided it does not obstruct
or injure the roadway at that point.
furs. Eugene Beugnot of Sebastian appeared before the Board and appealed for
financial aid and assistance, her husband now serving 3 months jail sentence for
assault and battery. It was ordered the County nurse investigate with authority to
report needs and amount necessary, which will be paid on presentation of bill
A letter from Judge Otis M. Cobb returning warrant #537 issued against the Fine
& Forfeiture Fund for $100.00 was received and read.. It was ordered that said warrant
be accepted and the Clerk instructed to cancel the same.
Letter received from mrs Clark C. Rice, President of welfare Workers requesting

aid for aged couple. It was ordered the matter be referred to the County Nurse for
�� attention and report.

The Bond of F. W. Dole, as Justice of the Peace District #3, in the sum of
0500.00 with Um E. Feazel, Sr. and G. F. Green as sureties was approved.
Deputy -Sheriff bond of B. F. Royal, in the sum of §19000.00 with G.F.Green and
I. J. ;AAde-reon as sureties was approved.
The County Judge appeared before the Board and submitted figures with respect
to salary and fees of County Judge of St• Lucie County and County Engineer of
St. Lucie County and compared thea with the respective positions of Indian River
County and requested the Board to re -consider action of setting his salary at 650.00
per month as Judge of the Juvehile Court. It was moved, seconded and carried that
the action of the Board already taken be considered as final.
The several bills and accounts of the County, having been audited, were examined
and found -correct were approved, and warrants ordered issued in settlement of same.
The warrants so drawn, from the respective funds of the County, being listed in the
County Finance record of the County, reference to which record is made a part of
these minutes as fully and completely as if each warrant was set out herein in detail.
The County Depositories filed their monthly statements of the various Funds of
the County showing receipts and disbursements for the month of February, which having
been properly check were found to be correct.
There being no further business on motion made, seconded and carried -the Board
adjourned until the next regular meeting in April 1929.
