Minimum Specification Requirements as follows : Bridge Structures • Pile driving analysis (PDA) testing during test pile installation and development of recommendations for production pile lengths and final driving criteria . This will include slump , temperature and air content of plastic concrete , and compressive strength testing of hardened specimens . • Issuance of an engineering report documenting all work and furnishing a professional opinion regarding compliance of the work with the project' s plans and specifications . Roadway Construction • In-place moisture density testing of embankment fill , pipe backfill , stabilized sub grade , base course , and curb pads . • Laboratory testing of soils and aggregates including Proctors , Limerock Bearing Ratio (LBR) , soil classification , carbonate content (base) , and other such specified QC tests . • Preparation and issuance of engineering reports presenting the test results and their compliance with the project specifications . All work shall also comply with the current Florida Minimum Technical Standards , COMPENSATION . (DE &T) is pleased to submit this scope of services letter in connection with the planned 20th Avenue Bridge project in Indian River County, Florida. Our services will be provided under our continuing Geotechnical Services Contract (RFP #7018) with Indian River County (January 2005 through January 2006) . In general , our services will involve performing field and laboratory quality control (QC) testing, including test pile driving oversight. We understand that the project will involve construction of a new bridge to allow access from existing Aviation Road to the proposed Indian River County Administration Complex. The construction will include the new bridge and a short section of roadway. Based on the discussions at the February 21 , 2005 per-construction meeting with you, we envision that our services will primarily involve the periodic performance of field and laboratory tests in connection with roadway/embankment construction, storm pipe installation, and bridge construction. A more specific listing of the services which we anticipate providing for the project follows on the next page : Bridge Structures • Pile driving analysis (PDA) testing during test pile installation and development of recommendations for production pile lengths and final driving criteria. • Periodic testing of concrete during substructure and superstructure construction. We understand that the Indian River County Engineering Department will provide the monitoring/inspection of the production pile installations . In the event that you want DE&T to provide the monitoring/inspection of production pile installations , we have included a separate estimate for these services (Attachments A, B and Q . Also , we understand that no pre-cast pile yard inspection is required during the forming, pre- stressing and casting of pre- cast bridge elements because the pre-cast piles are being produced from a FDOT certified plant ( Standard Pre-Cast of Tampa, FL) . Our work scope/budget does not include vibration monitoring. Pursuant to Section 455 of MOT Standard Specifications, the Contractor should be responsible for protection of existing structures (e.g., monitoring settlements and vibrations during pile driving) . If you desire, DE&T can provide vibration monitoring services.
