All services performed under this contract shall be supervised and certified by a licensed Professional Engineer (PE ) registered with the State of Florida and staff employed directly with your firm . Scope of Services All work shall be performed on a unit price basis in accordance with the attached Scope of Services dated August 27 , 2007 and shall comply with Standards enumerated in the RENEWAL OF THE ANNUAL GEOTECHNICAL SERVICES CONTRACT IRC PROJECT NO . 0534 WITH ARDAMAN & ASSOCIATES INC. Effective Date : October 1 , 2007 . Minimum Specification Requirements as follows : • Auger borings . • Laboratory testing of subsurface soils. Construction Materials Testing Services Preparation and issuance of engineering reports . Asphalt testing services All work shall also comply with the current Florida Minimum Technical Standards . COMPENSATION . The COUNTY agrees to pay , and the Geotechnical Professional agrees to accept, a fee for services rendered according to the "Scope of Services" identified in the attached EXHIBIT "A. Nixon , P .E. Subject: Proposal for Limited Subsurface Soil Exploration and Construction Materials Testing Services 8" Ct. SW from 9" St. SW south approximately 400 L .F. Indian River County, Florida IRC Project #03107 Dear Mr. Nixon: As requested, we are pleased to present the following proposal for conducting two shallow auger borings and the construction materials testing services for the subject project. Based on information provided to us, we understand that the project includes constructing stormwater improvements along the subject portion of the roadway that will be paved in the near future. Shallow soil stratigraphy and groundwater table levels are needed for this phase of the project. Testing services will also be performed during the construction phase of the project. The following summarizes the requested scope of work and associated fees for conducting the subject exploration . FIELD EXPLORATION As discussed, our field exploration program will consist of performing two auger borings to a depth of approximately 6 feet below ground surface- The borings will be conducted using a 3-inch diameter hand (bucket) auger in the vicinity of the locations selected by the client. Each sample will be removed from the auger in the field and then examined and visually classified by our field personnel . Representative portions will be sealed and packaged for transportation to our laboratory for further analysis as required. Water level observations will be made in the boreholes during the drilling operation. The boreholes will be backfilled with excavated material upon completion of the field program . LABORATORY TESTING Routine laboratory visual classification will be performed along with specific classification tests deemed necessary (i.e. , sieve analysis, Atterberg limits and organic contents ). ENGINEERING ANALYSIS AND REPORT All data obtained will be made to evaluate general subsurface conditions. The data developed during the exploration will be submitted in a written data report upon conclusion of the exploration . COST ESTIMATE The costs associated with the aforementioned tasks are presented below- The total cost will not be exceeded without prior authorization.
