HomeMy WebLinkAbout3/30/1970.mr 4• MONDAY, MARCH 30, 1970 The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida met in special session at the Courthouse, Vero Beach, Florida on Monday, -March 30, 1970 at 4:00 o'clock P. M. Present were Jack U. Dritenbas, Chairman; D. B. McCullers, Jr.; and Edward J. Massey. Absent were Richard P. Bogosian, Vice Chairman,and Alma Lee Loy. Also present were Jack G. Jennings, County Administrator; Paul D. Burch, Attorney to the Board of County Commissioners; and Alfred H. Webber and Janet N. Turpan, Deputy Clerks. The Chairman called the meeting to order and turned the Chair over to Paul D. Burch, Attorney to the Board. On a Motion made by Commissioner Massey, seconded by Commissioner McCullers, the following Resolution was unanimously adopted: 0 k f� 1 M y14! P RESOLUTION 70-11 WHEREAS, the General Services Administration of the United States of America has declared certain property owned by the United States of America in Indian River County, Florida, as surplus land (G. S. A. Control D -Fla. - 675) available for development of public parks and/or public recreational purposes, and WHEREAS, the Board of County Commission of Indian River County, Florida, desires to acquire this property for the development of a public park to benefit all residents of Indian River County, and WHEREAS, the United States of America has established $17, 500.00 as a fair price for said land, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida, resolves to purchase as soon as possible from the United States of America surplus land in Indian River County, Florida (G. S.A. Control D -Fla. - 675) for a purchase price of $17, 500.00 and authorizes Jack Dritenbas, Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners to conduct this transaction and execute any documents required to effectuate the purchase. _ , Chairman, Indian Alver County Board of 'i'�`' )" Commissioners ,. p ' ATES7:;� t . RESOLUTION WHEREAS, it is the intent of the Indian River County School f Board to hold a special millage election on Tuesday, the 26th of May, 11970; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Chapter 69-241, Laws of Florida, and I Section 100. 151, Florida Statutes, it is necessary for the County Commis - I sioners to be notified in order that the Supervisor of Elections shall I consent to the date of the election and make the registration books a NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Indian River County School Board that a special millage election be held in Indian River County, Florida on Tuesday, May 26, 1970 for the purpose of obtaining funds for building, busses, capital Improvement and junior college con- tribution, to be levied and collected annually for the two (2) succeeding years. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Chairman and Secretary this Board request the County Commissioners to notify the Supervisor of Elections and to call an election at which the electors who are owners of freeholds or owners of personal property within the county who are not wholly exempt from taxation shall be authorized to vote. McClure, Superintendent of Schools and Secretar of the Indian River County School Board, hereby certify the foregoing to be a true and correct copy of a resolution regularly adopted by the Board at a meeting of said Board held on March 23 , 1970. On a Motion made by Commissioner McCullers, seconded by Commissioner Massey, the following Resolution was unanimously adopted: RESOLUTION 70-12 WHEREAS, pursuant to Chapter 69-241, Laws of Florida, the County Commissioners are directed to call an election at which the elec- tors who are owners of freeholds or personal property within the county who are not wholly exempt from taxation may approve ad valorem tax millage as authorized by Article VII, Section 9, Florida Constitution; and WHEREAS, the Indian River County School Board has her adopted a resolution calling for said election, requesting that it be held on Tuesday, May 26, 1970. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida that this Board does here ratify and approve May 26, 1970 as the date for the holding of said special millage election by the Indian River County School Board and directs the Supervisor of Elections to make the registration books available for said election pursuant to law. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Board does herewith determine the number of inspection boards for each precinct and does hereby appoint the personnel of the inspection boards as shall be and appointed by the Indian River 'County School Board pursuant to resolu- tion for the special millage election to be held on Tuesday, May 26, 1970. There being no further business, on Motion made, seconded and carried, the Board then adjourned at 4:20 o'clock P. M.
