AND THE WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT BOARD OF THE TREASURE COAST
This amendment to the agreement made and entered into by the Counties of Indian River,
Martin , Okeechobee and St. Lucie , of the State of Florida, pursuant to the authority of Section
163 . 01 , Florida Statutes .
WITNESSETH that :
WHEREAS , Public Law 105 -220 , enacted by the Congress of the United States effective
August 7 , 1998 , which act is known as the " Workforce Investment Act of 1998 " (hereinafter
called the "WIA") , the purpose of which is to provide workforce investment activities, through
statewide and local Workforce investment systems , that increase the employment, retention, and
earnings of participants , and increase occupational skill attainment by participants , and as a
result, improve the quality of the workforce , reduce welfare dependency , and enhance the
productivity and competitiveness of the Nation ; and
WHEREAS Section I of said Interlocal Agreement provides for the Establishment,
Composition and Appointment of the Workforce Development Board in accordance with the
requirements of Section 117 of the Title I of the WIA .
WHEREAS the parties wish to amend section 8 of the Interlocal Agreement as it
pertains to the tern of service for Workforce Board members .
NOW. THEREFORE , the parties hereto agree as follows : Section 8 of the Interlocal
Agreement is amended as follows :
1 . The fourth sentence of the second paragraph, which reads as follows : '
"Members may be reappointed for a successive term if the sponsoring organization
agrees . "
Is revised to read .
"Members may be reappointed for successive terms if the sponsoring organization
agrees . "
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the undersigned parties have executed this agreement .
