The Tax Adjustment Board of Indian River County, Florida met
in special session at the Courthouse, Vero Beach, Florida on
Friday, August 14, 1970 at 10:00 o'clock A. M. 'Present were
Jack U. Dritenbas, Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners;
Richard P. Bogosian and Alma Lee Loy, Indian River County Board of
County Commissioners; and Rivers Anderson and Warren T. Zeuch,Jr.,
Indian River County School Board. Also present were Homer C.
Fletcher, County Tax Assessor; William G. O'Neal, Esquire,,representing
Homer C. Fletcher; Gene E. Morris, County Tax Collector; Jack G.
Jennings, County Administrator; and Alfred H. Webber and Janet N.
Turpan, Deputy Clerks.
The Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners having called
the meeting to order; the Tax Assessor advised that the 1970 tax roll
was approved by the Department of Revenue on August 11.
Homer C. Fletcher, Tax Assessor, presented a list of homesteads
for automatic review by the Board as follows:
Dona Allen, Rte. 1, Box 78, Fellsmere, Florida
Rejected, No title of record on January 1, 1970.
G. C. Barnett, Rte. 1, Oslo Road, Vero Beach, Florida
Rejected, No title of record on January 1, 1970.

Rejected, No title of record on January 1, 1970.

The Tax Assessor explained that service was to all parties
by certified mail or returned for non-delivery. The Chairman
asked if any of these'were present. There were none and upon
Motion of Commissioner Bogosian, seconded by Mr. Zeuch, the Board
unanimously sustained the rejections of the Tax Assessor.
The Tax Assessor advised that a letter had been received from
Temple Beth E1 Lo Him of.Greater Miami protesting the refusal of
the Tax Assessor to give tax exemption to lots in the City of
Fellsmere which are.set aside for purposes of religion, education
and charity purposes. The Tax Assessor having explained that the
property must be used exclusively for that purpose; a Motion was
made by Commissioner Bogosian, seconded by Commissioner Loy and
unanimously carried that the petition be denied.
The Tax Assessor advised that petitioners have 15 days in
which to oppose current tax assessments. Five days being required
by law after notification of date of hearing to petitioners, the
hearing on tax assessment petitions was scheduled for Tuesday,
August 25, 1970 at 9:00 o'clock A. M.
There being no further business, the Tax Adjustment Board,
on Motion made, seconded and carried adjourned at 10:35 o'clock A. M.
