HomeMy WebLinkAbout8/25/1970u TUESDAY, AUGUST 25, 1970 The Tax Adjustment Board of Indian River County, Florida met in duly called session at the Courthouse, Vero Beach, Florida on Tuesday, August 25, 1970 at 9:00 o'clock A. M. Present were Jack U. Dritenbas, Chairman: Richard P. Bogosian and Alma Lee Loy, Members of the Board of County Commissioners; and Rivers Anderson and Warren T. Zeuch, Jr., Members of the Indian River County School Board. Also present were Graham Stikelether, acting as Attorney to the Board in the absence of Paul E. Burch; Homer C. Fletcher, Indian River County Tax Assessor; William G. O'Neal, Esquire, representing Homer C. Fletcher; and Alfred H. Webber and Janet N. Turpan, Deputy Clerks. The Chairman called the meeting to order and Homer C. Fletcher was duly sworn as witness in accordance with the law: Carl S. Archer, President of CX3 Corporation, having duly been sworn, presented his plea on RE #38666. All arguments having been heard, the Board advised the Petitioner he will be notified of the Board's decision as prescribed by law. William Pryor, having duly been sworn, and B. T. Cooksey, Attorney, presented the plea of and on behalf of Al J. Henning, RE # 38633. All arguments having been heard, the Board advised the•Petitioners they will be notified of the Board's decision as prescribed by law. Katinka Ozee, Executrix of the Estate of Ella Jo Stollberg Wilcox, having duly been sworn, presented her plea on RE #10984. All arguments_, having been heard, the Board advised the Petitioner she will be notified of the decision of the Board as prescribed by law. AUG 2's e7o The hour of 10:45 o'clock A. M. having been set aside to hear Petition to Oppose Increased Assessment on RE #12593, RE #12602 and RE #12604, the Chairman called for representation of Petition. No representative of Vero Shores Corporation being present, the Deputy Clerk proclaimed that registered letter confirming the time and place of meeting had been mailed on August 14, that return receipt requested had been signed by Diane Guttman for Mark Silverstein, President. The Chairman having called thrice for representation from Petitioner on RE #12593, RE #12602 and RE #12604, on Motion of Mr. Anderson, second of Commissioner Loy, the Board unanimously determined that they would recess to reconvene after a four hour period to again be available to Petitioner at 3:30 o'clock P. M. The hour of 11:30 o'clock A. M.• having been set aside to hear Petition to Oppose Increased Assessment on RE #38839, the Chairman called for representation of Petition. No representative of Susan R. Haynes, Et. Al being present, the Deputy Clerk pro- claimed that registered letter confirming the time and place of meeting had been mailed on August 14 and that return receipt requested had been signed by Susan R. Haynes. The Chairman having called thrice for representation from Petitioner on RE #38839, on Motion of Mr. Anderson, second•of Commissioner Loy, the Board unanimously determined that they would recess to reconvene after a four hour period to again be available to Petitioner at 3:30 o'clock P. M. On Motion of Commissioner Loy, second of Mr. Zeuch, the Board unanimously moved that signs be placed on the door of the Commission Room stating that the Board is temporarily recessing until 3:30 o'clock P. M. The Board then recessed at 12:00 o'clock Noon. u ie Chairman called the meeting to order at 3:35 o'clock P. M.; firman, Commissioner Loy and Mr: Zeuch being present. A four hour period having been provided for the appearance of the petitioners who were not present at the designated time to come forth to make their protestations as was outlined earlier as provided by law; Mark Silverstein RE #12593, RE # 12602 and RE #12604 and Susan R. Haynes Et. Al. The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida met in special session at the Courthouse, Vero Beach, Florida on Thursday, August 27 at 8:30 o'clock A. M. Present were Jack U. Dritenbas, Chairman; Richard P. Bogosian, Vice Chairman; Alma Lee Loy and Edward J. Massey. Absent was D. B. McCullers, Jr. Also present were Alfred H. Webber and Janet N. Turpan, Deputy Clerks, The Chairman called the meeting to order and explained the reason for calling the meeting was due to the fact that a candidate wishes to withdraw from the ballot. L...i]cLt.....r 13 UG 2 7 1970 I Upon Motion of Commissioner Loy, second of Commissioner Massey, the Board unanimously approved the withdrawal of the name of John G. Taylor from.the First Primary Ballot as submitted in the foregoing letter. There being no further business, on Motion made, seconded and carried the Board adjourned at 8:45 o'clock A. M.
