The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River
County, Florida met in special session at the Courthouse, Vero
Beach, Florida on. Wednesday, May 25, 1971 at 2:00 o'clock P. M.
Present were Richard P. Bogosian, Chairman; Alma Lee Loy, Vice
Chairman; D. B. Mccullers, Jr. and Jack U. Dritenbas. Absent
was Edward J. Massey. Also present were Jack G. Jennings,
County Administrator; George Collins, acting as Attorney to the.
Board of County Commissioners; Sam Joyce, Sheriff and Janet N.
Turpan, Deputy Clerk. Absent was Paul D. Burch.
The Chairman called the meeting to order and explained
that the meeting was called in accordance with the following
public notices

Vero Beach, in said Indian River County, and that the said newspaper has heretofore

as second class mail matter at the post office in Vero Beach, in said Indian River County, Florida
for a period of one year next preceeding the first publication of the attached copy of adver-
tisement; and affiant further says that he has neither paid nor promised any person,' firm or
corporation any discount, rebate, commission or refund for the purpose of securing this adver-
tisement for publication In the said newspaper.

Sealed bids will be received by the
Board of County Commissioners of
Indian River County, Florida
_ thereinafter called the "Board") for
the projects hereinafter set forth at
and until 7:00 P.M., E.S.T., the 75
day of May 1971, in the Office of the
CountyAdministrator, 14th Avenue,
Vero Beach, Florida at which place
and time, or as soon thereafter as
the Board can attend to the same,
fha said bids will be publicly opened
and read. The Board will thereafter
make the award of the contract,
based upon the result of the
tabulations, as covered by ap.
ylicable laws and regulations. The

Plans, specifications, bid forms,
form of contract, instructions to
bidders and all other bidding and
contract data may be obtained from.
the Office of John J. Schlitt, Jr.,
AIA, Architect, 7110 5th Avenue,
Vero Beach, Florida, on and after.
May 10, 1971. A deposit of 525.00 each
will be required, refundable if said
plans and documents are returned in
_good order within 10 days after the -
award of the contract.
All bids must be submitted on forms
prescribed by the Board and ac-
coinpanied by one of the following:
A certified check, cashier's -check,
or a bid bond. If a bid bond is sub-
mitted, it must be accompanied by a
"Power of Attorney" for the rep-
resentative of the Bonding Com-
pany.
The certified check, cashier's check
or bid bond shall be in the amount of
S per centum of the base bid, con-
ditioned that 'it awarded the cont
•
ract, the bidder will within the time
specified by the Board, enter into a
contract in accordance with the
accepted bid. in form prescribed by
the Board, and give a Performance
Bond satisfactory to the Attorney for
the Board equal to 100 per centum of
the contract price.
All bidders are requested to call at
the Office of the Secretary of the
Board for the return Certified Check,
Cashier's check, or Bid Bond. which:
will be made available to Bidders in
accordance with the instructions to
Bidders in the specifications.
The Board reserves the right to
Waive informalities and to reject
any and all bids.

The Chairman asked for receipt of bids in accordance with the
Notice and the following sealed bids were received, opened and
read:
William Hensick and Sons ........ $24,414.00
Fred E. Baker ................... 25,000.00
Netto Construction Company...... 21,729.00
Parent and Sons.... o ........... o 24,977.00
Each bid was submitted on a standard form of proposal and
contained a bond. Parent and Sons submitted a cash bond of
$1,248.85.
Upon Motion made by Commissioner Dritenbas, seconded by
Commissioner McCullers, the Board unanimously voted that the bids
be retained for further evaluation by the Building Committee.
The Chairman advised the contractors that after evaluation
by the Building Committee, the Board would either accept one of -
the bids -or reject all of them on their regular Board Meeting on
June 9.
There being no further business, on Motion made, seconded
and carried, the Board adjourned at 2:20 o'clock P. M.
