HomeMy WebLinkAbout12/22/1971i M� Ow WEDNESDAY,_ DECEMBER 22, 1971 The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida met in regular session at the Courthouse, Vero Beach, Florida on Wednesday, December 22, 1971 at 8:30 o'clock. Present were Richard P. Bogosian, Chairman; Alma Lee Loy, Vice Chairman; D. B. McCullers, Jr.; Jack U. Dritenbas and Edward J. Massey. Also present were Jack G. Jennings, County Administrator; Paul D. Burch, Attorney to the Board James Reams, Deputy Sheriff; and L. S. Thomas, Jr. and Janet N. Turpan, Deputy Clerks. The Chairman called the meeting to order and asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes of the the regular meeting of December 8, 1971. Commissioner Loy requested that on Page 5, second paragraph the words "for the engineering design" replace the words "on it." •The Attorney to the Board requested that the Perpetual Easement by Phyl-Co Homes, Inc. to Indian River County be included in the minutes. A Motion was made by Commissioner Massey, seconded by Commissioner McCullers and unanimously carried that authorization be given for advertisement for public hearing for zoning changes for Indian River Exchange Packers, Inc.; J. Vincent Sparks; Elizabeth J..Clarkson; Maguire KOA Campground; Roy E. Hilliard; Edward T. Karr; Rivers McNeill Anderson; Raymond R. Sawyer; William A. Taylor at Roseland; Roseland Gardens Subdivision; Ralph W. Jones and Anthony Elso. Upon a Motion made by Commissioner Massey, seconded by Commissioner McCullers, Site Plan Approval for Truth and Life, Inc. .was unanimously postponed until the meeting of January 5, 1972. Upon a Motion made by Commissioner Massey, seconded by Commissioner Loy, the Board unanimously approved site plan for B. J. Wadsworth; Lyle A. Snyder; Stephen L. Vickers; Maguire Kok Campground; Hugh Smith; and Kids Krusade, Inc. 14 _ 0 DEC 2 2 1971 Gladys Vigliano, County Welfare Director, appeared in regard to a letter from Roy Howard, principal of Douglas Elementary School, in regard to a family with constant medical expenses. After some discussion, it was decided that the family had sufficient income to sustain themselves. Upon a Motion made by Commissioner Loy, seconded by Commissioner Dritenbas, the following Resolution was unanimously adopted: RE S GLUT I ON 71-64 WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida_recognizev the need for Comprehensive County Planning,. -.and WHEREAS, Indian River County is by resolution a member of the Vero Beach -Indian River County Planning Commission which purpose is -to do comprehensive planning. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County does hereby approve and authorize the Vero Beach -Indian River County Planning Commission making application for federal planning assistance grant, in amount not to exceed the approved budget, and to enter into contract with the State and Federal government to complete a comprehensive plan as hereinafter described. The Chairman then called for receipt of bids in accordance with the Notice and the following sealed bid was received, opened and read: H. F. Mason Equipment Company $2,460.50 The bid was then given to the Administrator for evaluation. 0 ,r% 4 .4 5 DEC 4 4 1971 B John Amos, Indian River Farms Drainage District, appeared and requested that the Board assist in clearing a drainage right- of-way, in order that five families have ingress and egress from their homes. Upon Motion made by Commissioner Dritenbas, seconded by Commissioner Massey, the request was unanimously denied. A bid received from M. D. Moody, Inc. for the bid opening of 9:30 o'clock, was returned unopened because it was late. The County Administrator presented a final plat of a Subdivision known as Vista Del Mar Subdivision and recommended its final approval as meeting County Subdivision Requirements. Upon a Motion made by Commissioner Dritenbas, seconded by Commissioner Loy and unanimously carried the recommended final approval was given for Vista Del Mas Subdivision with the provision that all work be done in accordance with County Subdivision Regulations.
