WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 19, 1972 The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida met in regular session at the Courthouse, Vero Beach, Florida, on Wednesday, January 19, 1,972 at 8:30 o'clock A. M. Present were Richard P. Bogosian, Chairman; Alma Lee Loy, Vice Chairman; D. B. McCullers, Jr.; and Edward J. Massey. Absent was Jack U. Dritenbas. Also present were Jack G. Jennings, County Administrator; Paul D. Burch, Attorney to the Board of County Commissioners; C. R. Whitesides; Deputy Sheriff; and L. S. Thomas, Jr. and Janet N. Turpan, Deputy Clerks. The Chairman called the meeting to order and asked it there were any additions or corrections to the minutes of the regular meeting of January 5, 1972. Commissioner Loy requested that on Page S,Paragraph 7, the words`" to ascertain if being moved from District 4 would change the status of the County with the State Department of Transportation, be changed to read "to ascertain whether changing ©ur planning district from the jurisdiction of the East Central Regional Planning Council would necessitate a change in the district of Indian River County with the State Department of Transportation,". On Page 95, Paragraph 1, -it was requested that the words " Motion made by.Commissioner Loy" be changed to read "Motion made by Commissioner Dritenbas% The above corrections, having been made, a Motion was made by Commissioner Massey, seconded by Commissioner McCullers, and the Minutes of the regular meeting of January 5, 1972, were unanimously approved as corrected. Engineers James L. Beindorf and Dave Smith reported on the County Wide Sewer Study.. Doctor Smith said that the County has 4 alternatives: 1. Do nothing. 2. Request the City of Vero Beach to extend their collection system. 3. County to provide system in the unincorporated areas 4. County to consider acquisition of privately owned facilities in the County. Doctor Smith outlined the schedule and estimated completion of a 9AU JAN 19 1972 County Wide System in March of 1974. Commissioner Loy expressed the gratitude of the Board for the report, and the Planning Director was to work with the Planning Commission to plan a meeting of Joint City County.Officials in order to plan the next phase of the Program. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County that Indian River County be grouped with those counties in the proposed Region 7 and that a copy, of this Resolution be sent to the Department of Administration. That delays in the completion of the highway has resulted in the secondary roads of Indian River County having to carry traffic loads that the roads were not designed to carry; has caused traffic congestion in downtown Vero Beach, Florida, and, if the highway is not rapidly completed, will cause expenditures of the county tax funds for road repairs, a cost that should be a federal and state cost. Commissioner McCullers left the meeting.
