ORDINANCE NO. 88-11
AN ORDINANCE OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY,
FLORIDA MAKING ADDITIONS, DELETIONS AND
AMENDMENTS TO ARTICLE IX (FIRE
PREVENTION CODES AND STANDARDS), CODE OF
LAWS AND ORDINANCES OF INDIAN RIVER
COUNTY; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTING
PROVISIONS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY;
PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION IN THE CODE,
AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE 'IT ORDAINED by the Board of County
Commissioners of Indian River County:
SECTION 1.
Section 4=110, Code -'of Laws and Ordinances is
amended to read:
'Sect ion 4-110. Adoption.
Indian River County and the respective fire
districts in Indian River County hereby adopt the following
codes for the purpose of prescribing rules and regulations
governing conditions that could cause a potential hazard to
life and property:
(1) The Fire Prevention Code, 1976 Edition,
recommended by the American Insurance
Association, as amended.
(2) The National Fire Protection Association,
(NFPA) 101, Life Safety Code, rh0lfi1W?101Y1
1981 1985 edition.
(3) National Fire Protection Association,
Standard for the Storage and Handling of
Liquified Petroleum Gases (NFPA 115411, 1980
1984 edition and "58", 1983 1986 edition).
(4) The state fire marshal's rules and
regulations of Florida, promulgated by the
division of state fire marshal.
(5). The Standard Fire Prevention Code, 1982

These codes are adopted by reference as if fully
set forth herein. Not less than three (3) copies of each
code shall be filed in the office of the clerk of the

Conflicting Provisions.

Special acts of the Florida legislature applicable
only to unincorporated areas of Indian River County, County
ordinances and County resolutions, or parts thereof, in
conflict with this ordinance are hereby superseded by this
ordinance to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 3.
Severability.
If any section, or if any sentence, paragraph,
phrase, or word of this ordinance is for any reason held to
be unconstitutional, inoperative, or void, such holding
shall not affect the remaining portions of this ordinance,
and it shall be construed to have been the legislative
intent to pass the ordinance without such unconstitutional,
invalid or inoperative part.
SECTION 4.
Incorporation—in—Code.
This ordinance shall be incorporated into the Code
of Laws and Ordinances of Indian River County and the word
"ordinance" may be changed to "section", "article", or other
appropriate word and the sections of this ordinance may be
renumbered or relettered to accomplish such purposes.
SECTION -5.
Effective Date.
This ordinance shall become effective upon receipt
from the Secretary of State of the State of Florida of

Approved and adopted by the Board of County
Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida, on this 1st
day of March 1988.
This ordinance was advertised in the Vero Beach
Press -Journal on the 10th day of —February---, 1988, for a
public hearing to be held on the lst day of -- March
1988, at which time it was moved for adoption by
Commissioner Wheeler seconded by Commissioner
Bowman and adopted by the following
