WHEREAS, Indian River County has adopted standard technical codes for its building codes; and WHEREAS, these technical codes are updated and new additions issued from time to time pursuant to Section 553. 73, F. S. ; WHEREAS, the current required updated codes are set forth NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, that: SECTION 1. AMENDMENT SECTION 401.01. Section 401.01 is hereby partially amended to reflect deletion standard technical codes as follows Standard Building Code (SBC) , 1994 Edition' Standard Plumbing Code (SPC), 1994 Edition Standard Mechanical Code (SMC), 1994 Edition Standard Gas Code (SGC), 1994 Edition 'Including the engineering design criteria contained in Section 1606 and excluding Chapter 11, "Accessibility for People with Physical Disabilities" and Appendix E, "Energy Conservation". Section 1606 of the Standard Building Code shall be the minimum wind load criteria used for the design of all one and two family dwellings. Compliance with the engineering design criteria con- tained in Section 1606 may be achieved by using the Southern Building Code Congress International, Inc., Standard SSTD 10-93 for Hurricane Resistant Residential Construction. of the 1991 editions and the addition of the new editions of the standard technical codes as follows Standard Building Code (SBC) , 1994 Edition' Standard Plumbing Code (SPC), 1994 Edition Standard Mechanical Code (SMC), 1994 Edition Standard Gas Code (SGC), 1994 Edition 'Including the engineering design criteria contained in Section 1606 and excluding Chapter 11, "Accessibility for People with Physical Disabilities" and Appendix E, "Energy Conservation". ORDINANCE NO. 95- 31 SECTION 2. REPEAL. Those portions of the Indian River County Code superseded or in conflict with the provisions herein adopted, in particular Chapter 401, are hereby repealed. SECTION 3. SEVERABILITY. If any section, or any sentence, paragraph, phrase, or word of this ordinance is for any reason held to be unconstitutional, inoperative, or void, such holding shall not affect the remaining portions of this ordinance, and it shall be construed to have been the legislative intent to pass the ordinance without such unconstitutional, invalid or inoperative part. SECTION 4. EFFECTIVE DATE. A certified copy of this ordinance, as enacted, shall be filed by the Clerk with the Office of the Secretary of State of the State of Florida within ten days after enactment, and this ordinance shall take effect upon filing with the Secretary of State. Approved and adopted by the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida, on this 21 day of November 19959 This ordinance was advertised in the Vero Beach Press -Journal on the 9 day of November 1995, for a public hearing to be held on the 21 day of November 1995, at which time it was moved for adoption by Commissioner Adams seconded by Commissioner E g e r t and adopted by the following vote Chairman Kenneth R .
