R ..0 I At the regular meeting of tie Board of County Commissioners in and for Indian River County, Florida, held in Nero Beach on Tuesday, January 7th 1930 at 10 o'clock A.M.the I following members of the Board were present: Albert 0. Helseth, Chairman; J.D.Yongue; JoW.LaBruce; J.Z.P.Hemilton and John H. Atkin. Also present were Miles Marren, Clerk and Clark S. Rice, Sheriff. The minutes of the previous meetings were read and approved. Secret ballots. were taken for Chairman of this Board for the year 19309 and for I � County employees coming under the jurisdiction of the Board, the following named were ; selected for the respective positions: Albert O. Helseth, Chairman D.1. Leisher, County Engineer Leila M. Bunk -ley, County Furse M. E. Evans, County Agricultural Agent William Frick, Traffic Officer C. P. Diamond, Attorney for the Board i Geo. T. Tippin appeared before the Board regarding the Indian River County Fair. Also Mr. Dillon, who is to be manager of the fair for the year 1930 appeared and gave a talk and requested an appropriation of $500.00 for the Fair Association. It was moved, seconded and carried that $500.00 be appropriated out of the Publicity Fund to assist in the operation of the Fair for the year 1930. County nurse Leila M. Bunkley appeared before the Board and made report of her activities among the paupers of the County. It was ordered that bills incurred in connection with Mrs. Mary Mood of Mabasso be paid. It was moved, seconded and carried that J. F. Williams of Vero Beach, be placed on the pauper -list to receive $8.00 per month i until further orders of this Board. n It was moved, seconded and carried that Allen Brigaty, negro, Sebastian, Florida be placed on the pauper list to receive �5.00 Per month until further orders. k It was ordered that Mrs Allen Cain, Roseland, be placed on the pauper list to reeeibe $8.00 per month for two months while her husband is in jail. It was moved, seconded and carried that Mary L. Daniels, be paid $10.00 per month for two months while her son is in jail serving a sentence after conviction. E. G. Thatcher appeared before the Board requesting the use of County machinery in shaping up the air -port field in Vero Beach. It was moved, seconded and carried tha the County Engineer use the County road machinery to disc and drag the airport field when same is in condition for such work. It was moved, seconded and carried that $50.00 be appropriated out of the publici fund on account of preparation of County Publicity booklett under the direction of the Chamber of Commerce. It was ordered that all applications to cross public roads for drainage purposes be submitted to the County -Engineer on the form outlined by him. It was ordered that road at Roseland connecting asphalt and rock road be put in condition and shape for travel. It appearing to the satisfaction of the Board that.an error in assessment for taxa for 1929 on of SMJVSec. 23 `gip 31 S R 39 East was made, it is ordered that the Tax Collector accept taxes on a valuation basis of $12,500.00 instead of $16,000. as entered upon the tag roll for the year 1929. It was ordered that the Sheriff be paid the sum of $4.00 per day for atteddance &f meetings of the Board of County Commissioners. I. 1 1 1 In As provided by laws the Board or County Commissioners proceeded to select from the list of registered voters of the County the names oP the various oitizene to serve as jurors for the year 1930, making a list of the persogs' so selected in their own o handwriting and certifying to the same, as provided:by laws and attaching•th®ir'oath to said list. The several bills and accounts of the Court having been audited, were examined, and found to be correct, were approved, and warrants ordered issued in settlement of same. The said bills and accounts being on file in the office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court and which, by reference thereto, is made a part of these minutes. The several warrants so issued in settlementx of the various bills and accounts being listed completely in the County Finance Record as provided bylaw, and reference to said Record and the list so recorded is made a part of these minutes as fully aad completely as if the said warrants were set out herein in detail The County Depositories filed their monthly statements of the various accounts, of the respective funds, showing receipts and disbursements, which having been checked i were found to be correct.
