HomeMy WebLinkAbout2006-111RESOLUTION NO. 2006- 111 A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, IN SUPPORT OF A FEDERAL MARRIAGE AMENDMENT TO THE UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION. WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County believes that a Federal Constitutional Amendment is needed in order to stop the absolute destruction of the institution of marriage in America; and WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County supports a Constitutional Amendment defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman; and WHEREAS, the 109th Congress in its Second Session proposed House Joint Resolution 88, the "Marriage Protection Amendment"; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that It supports a Federal Marriage Constitutional Amendment stating that "Marriage in the United States shall consist only of the union of a man and a woman. Neither this Constitution, nor the constitution of any State, shall be construed to require that marriage or the legal incidents thereof be conferred upon any union other than the union of a man and a woman". The resolution was moved for adoption by Commissioner Bowden , and the motion was seconded by Commissioner Davis , and, upon being putto a vote, the vote was as follows: Arthur R.
