HomeMy WebLinkAbout2003-021 RESOLUTION NO. 2003- 021 A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, REQUESTING LISTS OF CANDIDATES FOR FLORIDA COOPERATIVE EXTENSION SERVICE POSITIONS. WHEREAS, section 1004.37, Florida Statutes, effective January 7, 2003, provides for cooperation between counties and the University of Florida and Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University with respect to the Florida Cooperative Extension Service as administered through the University of Florida; and WHEREAS, section 1004.37(3), Florida Statutes (2002) sets forth a mechanism for boards of county commissioners to approve or disapprove of persons recommended for extension positions in the county; and WHEREAS, section 1004.37(3), Florida Statutes (2002) specifically provides that the governing body of a county may notify the extension service by resolution that it wants a list of three qualified candidates and thereupon the extension service shall, for each position, make its recommendation by submitting a list of not fewer than three qualified persons, or all qualified persons if three or fewer; and WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, desires to adopt a resolution to notify the Florida Cooperative Extension Service that it wants a list of three qualified candidates for each of the positions of Water Quality Agent in Indian River County and Agricultural Agent in Indian River County. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that: 1 . The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County wants a list of three qualified candidates for each of the positions of Water Quality Agent in Indian River County and Agricultural Agent in Indian River g . � RESOLUTION NO. 2003- 021 County from the Florida Cooperative Extension Service in accordance with section 1004.37(3), Florida Statutes (2002). 2. The Clerk to the Board of County Commissioners is directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to the Florida Cooperative Extension Service. This Resolution was moved for adoption by Commissioner Gi nn , and the motion was seconded by Commissioner Neuberger and, upon being put to a vote, the vote was as follows: Chairman Kenneth R.
