A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, IN SUPPORT OF A NATIONAL
SCULLING TRAINING AND COMPETITION SITE ALONG THE SOUTH
SIDE OF THE C-54 CANAL.
WHEREAS, the C-54 Canal has been used for practice or competition by 16 different
colleges and universities as well as being used or planned to be used by 9 high schools and
rowing clubs; and
WHEREAS, a national sculling training and competition site would attract national
competitive events; and
WHEREAS, a national sculling training and competition site would entice northern
colleges to train here in the winter months and draw tourists to both Indian River County and '
Brevard County to enjoy the many other recreational and cultural attractions;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF
INDIAN RIVER COUNTY that:
1. The Board requests support of the State Legislature to provide funds in the next fiscal
year (2007/2008) to the St. Johns River Water Management District's budget for a sculling
training and competition site along the south side of the C-54 Canal, and

2. The Board directs this Resolution be presented to the Indian River County Legislative
Delegation.
The resolution was moved for adoption by Commissioner O'Bryan, and the motion was
seconded by Commissioner Wheeler, and, upon being put to a vote, the vote was as follows:
Chairman Gary C. Wheeler Aye
Vice Chairman Sandra L. Bowden Aye
Commissioner Wesley S. Davis Aye
Commissioner Joseph E. Flescher Aye
Commissioner Peter D. O'Bryan Aye
The Chairman thereupon declared the resolution duly passed and adopted this 51h day
of December, 2006. _
