A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY,
FLORIDA, OPPOSING THE FEDERAL BAILOUT.
WHEREAS, the federal government has bailed out Wall Street millionaires
and Detroit automakers; and
WHEREAS, the costs of the bailouts are borne by little people known as
"taxpayers"; and
WHEREAS, such bailouts reward failure; and
WHEREAS, current "economic stimulus,, legislation will increase the size
and scope of the federal government in the areas of Medicare, Medicaid and education;
and
WHEREAS, growth will not be stimulated by the "American Recovery and
Reinvestment Act", but said Act will have tragic inflationary consequences on the
American economy,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that:
1. The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida is
Opposed to the above -referenced federal bailout legislation; and
RESOLUTION NO. 2009-007
2. The Clerk to the Board is directed to forward copies of this resolution to:
A. President Barack Obama
B. Senator Bill Nelson
C. Senator Mel Martinez
D. Representative Bill Posey
The resolution was moved for adoption by Commissioner Wheeler, and the
motion was seconded by Commissioner Solari, and, upon being put to a vote, the vote
was as follows:
