HomeMy WebLinkAbout2004-096RESOLUTION 2004-096 INDIAN RIVER COUNTY RESOLUTION DECLARING A 7 -DAY EXTENSION TO THE STATE OF LOCAL EMERGENCY WHEREAS, by Resolution 2004-095, the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County declared a State of Local Emergency with respect to Hurricane Frances; and WHEREAS, Hurricane Frances made a direct hit on Indian River County causing extensive losses of power, water, sewer, and shortages of gasoline, food and ice; and WHEREAS, Chapter 252.38(3), Florida Statutes, grants Emergency Management powers to political subdivisions, including the Declaration of the State of Emergency declared locally; and WHEREAS, the State of Emergency is limited to seven days, but may be extended, as necessary, in 7 -day increments, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida, this 8 to day of September, 2004, that the State of Emergency, including the waiver of procedures and formalities declared in Resolution 2004-095 is hereby extended an additional seven days; and the County Administrator is hereby authorized to extend the State of Local Emergency for additional 7 -day increments, as necessary in his judgment, to ensure the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of Indian River County, without further authorization by the Board of County Commissioners. The resolution was moved for adoption by Commissioner NeijhPrger and the motion was seconded by Commissioner Macht , and, upon being put to a vote, the vote was as follows: Chairman Vice -Chairman Commissioner Commissioner Commissioner Caroline D.
