Commissioners in and for Indian River County, Florida, met at the court House in Vero Beach, Florida, on Tuesday, July lst 1930, at 10 o'clock A.M.with the following members of the Board present: Albert 0. Helseth, Chainnan, J. D. Yongue; J. -a. IaBruce; J. J. P. Hamilton and John H. Atkin._ also present were Miles warren, Clerk and Clark 3. Rice, Sheriff. �I The minutes of the previous meetings were read and approved. Alfred warren of Fort Pierce appeared before the Board and requested use of drag line to dyke his property eK so as to improve it. It was ordered that the County i Engineer do this work as soon as convenience at the usual charge for such services. J. L. Powers representing property owners on bast side of !)itch at Ylabasso appeared advising that 150 pipe is not sufficient to take the water off, and after considerable discussion the Board declined to take any further action in the matter. II The County Agricultural Agent filed his monthly report of activities in the County. The Notary Bond of Roland Arnold of Vero Beach, in the. sum of §500.00 with Omond Taylor; C. F. McClure;z B. M. !Albritton and D.A.Hubbard,Jr., as sureties was approved. Otis X. Cobb, County Judge appeared before the Board regarding reduction of , hi s salary as Judge of the County Court and requested that his salary as Judge of the Juvenile Court be increased from 050.00 to 0125.00 per month so as to make the salary to be received the same as heretofore, and that the increase be in effect. as of May lst 1930. Commissioner J.J.P.Hamilton moved that the say ary of Judge of the Juvenile Court be set at §125.00 per month effective May lst 1930. the same was. lost for the want of,,a second. It was ordered that J.J.laewis be paid 025..00 on account of Mr. Purvis, a pauper* It was ordered that Bridges be rebuilt on Lateral "A" --north Aeleif canal road and Road A-10. it Commissioner Yongue called attention tonthe notes and mortgages held by the r County on account of Special road & Bridge liistrict _#l, which were received from Bank of Sebastian as security on that fund, and the some was discussed.. The following Road Committee Report was Received, read and filed: ROAD CQW IT TEE fW ORT ii tie, the undersigned Committee appointed by Honorable Body on' the 17th day of June, 1930, with instractions to view and mark out the -beat route for a public road, described in the petition as follows, to -wit: Commencing at the intereseetion of the East right of way line of estate Road #4 and the South line of section twenty-six (26) Township Thirty-two (32) South, isange Thirty-nine (39) East, thence East on the line between 'Sections Twenty-six k26) and Thirty -rive k35) a distance of one mile, 'beg leave to -report .to your honors as follows: That we first after having subscribed to the oath required by law before entering on our duties make this our general report: That we proceeded to the said proposed location of the said public road upon the 30th day of June 19309 and viewed and marked out the following as the best route for said pro- !i posed road. (Said road is to be 50 feet wide). Commencing at the_ intersection of the east right-of-way line of state no ad #4 and the South line of Be eti,on Twenty- six . The following road committee report was received, read and filed: ROAD COMMITTEE RFP ORT we, the undersigned Committee appointed by Honorable Body on the bth day of June, 1930, with instructions to view and mark out the best route for a public road, describ in the petition as follows, to -wit:- Commencing at the East line of sft of Aft of Sec. 26 T.32 -5 R 39 L. , and extending Voest through center of aft of lVE-� and through center of 8Et of ivw-k of �se c. 26 T, 32 S R 39 B to connect with State Road #4 said right of way to be Fifty (50) feet in width entire length, beg leave to sport to your honors As follows: That we, after f irst having subscribed to the oath required .by law before en- tering on our duties make this our general report; that we proceeded to the said propos location of the said Public road upon the 24th day of June 1930, and viewed and marked out the following as the best route for said proposed road. (Said road is to be Fifty (50) feet wide: Beginning at the mouth -east corner of the North-east quarter of the outh-west quarter of the Borth -east quarter section Twenty-six (26) Township 32 south Range 39 Bast; thence test through the center of the south -gest quarter of the North- East quarter, and the south-east quarter of the worth -west quarter, said aection Township and Range to connect with the East right-of-way line of ztate Road Number You r. ,Therefore, having performed the duties required by law under the appointment of honors, we pray to be discharged. WHEREAS, the Tax ,Assessor has materially reduced the valuations on the following described lands, to -wit:- All of sections 2;,4--6--8--12--14=-18--24--26--28--32-- 0 34 and 36 Tp 33 tS R 36 East, and All of sections i--6--?--8--17--18--19--20--29--30-- 31 and 32 Tp 33 s R 37 Bast, and —HMAS, the 1929 elate and County taxes have not yet been paid, and if permitted to go delinquent same could be reileemed upon the lower valuation which would be q p , approximately 03,750.00 in taxes going to the State and county, and wH-MMS, T.A.Clarke Company, owner has offered to pay the sum of 44,000.00 in full payment of said taxes and advertising cost, and not permit the same to go delinquent, and :r 4EEREA-S, in the event said lands should go delinquent no more funds could be realiied out of the redemption of such lands, THERF90RF, BE IT RESOLVED that the Tax Collector is hereby instructed, directed and authorize to accept the said sum of ,p4,000.00 in full payment for said taxes for the -year 1929., and ordered to carry the remainder of such assessment on the errors and insolvency. lis t'i for the said year. 'mch resolution being put to a vote wap unanimously adopted. the several bills and accounts against the County having been audited, were exami and found correct, were approved and warrants ordered issued in settlement of same. The warrants so issued in settlement of the bills and accounts being listed completely in the County finance record, as provided by laws reference to said County Finance record and the list so recorded therein being made a part of these minutes as fully and completely as if the said warrants were set out herein in detail. The County Depository -filed its monthly statement of the various accounts showing receipts and disbursements, which having been checked were found to be correct. There being no further business on motion made, seconded and carried the Board adjourned until Mondays July 7th 1930. AT ST: ,Chai rm,an. AL4 C 1 e r r - - - - - -- - - -- - - - - - - - - - - MO NDAY , JULY 7th 1930 The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County met in the office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court at Vero Beach, in the County of Indian River, on this 7th day of July 1930s and the following County Coruissioners were present: Albert O.Hel- G seth, Chairman; J.D.Yongue; J. W. IeBruce; J.J.P.Hamilton and John H. Atkin. F. G. Fletcher appeared with supplemental plans of jail. The original plans I. were adopted and accepted subject to changes as shown in revised or supplemental plans dated June 26, 1930 and subject to changes made by* F.G.Fletcher, as County Building n Inspector. J.H.Knight appeared before the Board regarding road Last of State Road #4, being a continuation of south Gifford Road. It was ordered that the County Engineer get up k estimates of amount necessary to put this road in proper shape.
