HomeMy WebLinkAbout7/11/1930WIODMO DAY JULY 9th 19300 The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County met in the office of the Clerk- of the Circuit Court at "Nero reach, in the County of Indian giver on this the day of July 1930, and the following County Commissioners were present: Albert ©.Hell Chairman; J.D.Yongue; J,W.IaBruce; J .J.P.Hamilton and John H. Atkin. The Board of County Commissioners together with the County Assessor of taxes con - timed to sit as a Board of Equalizers, and the owners and agents of property, who appeared for that purpose, were allowed to ,make full and complete statements as to the valuation of the property owned or represented by them and the Tax Assessor and the mein of the Board having fully discussed the statements and facts as presented decided not t increase the valuation upon any of the property described on the tax roll for the year 1930. The Board of County Commissioners then adjourned until Friday, July 11th 1930, at 10 o'clock A.M. ATT7 Chai rman e r k. i FRIDLY JMY 110 A, D. 1930. Upon motion dulyapade and carried it was ordered the County Engineer was. Instructed to furnish the authorities in charge of mosquito oontiol sufficient dynamite to blast ditch on South Gifford read, East. Upon motion dulj made and carried the County Engineer was instructed to have repaired two bridges at Fest end of Osceola, over sub -lateral D 6 and D 7. i The attention of the Board was called to alleged violation of Seca 7397 and 739€ or Compiled General I4ws of Florida,,and the attorney for the Board of County Commissic was instructed to confer with the County Prosecuting Attorney relative thereto. The Clerk was instructed to communicate with the attormy general relative to the duties of the Commissioners of Fellsmere Cross State Road District, and/or Trustees of Atlantic and Gulf Special Road and Bridge District. The attention of the Board was called to the need of windows in the East end of the Jail building, now under construction, and.the Chairmen and Mr. F. G. Fletcher, inspector in charge of the construction, were instructed to have changes made and In the event the charges for change in the plans and specifications should appear excessii the Chairman to call a special meeting of the Board, otherwise'to proceed to have the changes made and the wildows installed. County Judge, Otis U. Cobb, having appeared before the board and requested the payment of the sten of 0150.00 for services as Judge of the Juvenile Court for the months of July, August and Septeapber, 1929, the matter of payment of said claim. was referred to Hon. C. P. Diamond, attorney for this board, therefore, in accordance with the advise of the said attorney it was ordered that payment of said claim is hereby again refused and tba bill not allowed, The Board of County Commissioners then resolved themselves into a Board of L t era c 1 1 11 1 L 1 331 Friday Tuly ll, 1939. Equalizers of taxes, in accordance with law, having beenreviousl p y sitting as such Board, and after hearing such owners orm agents of property make fall and complete y-- w statements as to the value of property owned or represented by they it was decided 'w that no increase in the valuations as fixed by the Tax Assessor would be made. -It was thereupon ordered, upon motion made by Ur. Tongue and seconded by Mr. Hamilton, and unanimously carried by vote of the Board, that the Tag Assessor be amd Is ba reby instructed to assess the property at the valuation fixed by himself as Tax Assessor of Indian River.County, Florida* s ii The tax books being ready to be returned to the Tex Assessor for the purpose of - extending the taxes thereon as provided by law the Board ar 0ounty Commissioners took up the matter of making an estimate of the nec®®ssary expenses for the fiscal year, from October lst, 1930, to September 30th, A. It was further resolved that at the regular meeting of this Board to be held on i k Tuesday the 5th day of August, 19300 the foregoing estimates shall be taken up and considered and acted upon and at the same time tax levy for the year 1930, will be made; There being no further business the Board then adjourned to meet in regular session esday, July 15th., , A.
