HomeMy WebLinkAbout8/19/1930Tue 19.' 1930. .At a meeting of the Board of county Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida begun and held at the office of the Clerk of 4ircuit Oourt, at Vero Beach, on Tuesday August 19, 1930, the following members of said 'Board were present; .Albert Helseth, Chai man, J. D. Yongue, J. J. P. Hamilton, J. 17. LaBruce and John H. Atkinsl The following proceedings were had. Minutes o$ the meeting held on .August 5, 1930, were read and approved upon moti duly made and carried. A road petion was filed in the following words and figures; ROAD PETI^1ION. Mate of Florida., County of Indian River, TO THE H0NORABIE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF SAID COUNTY: Gentlemens We the undersigned, citizens of the County of Indian River, State of Florida, respectfully represent that the necessities of the public require a County Road to be maid out as follows, to -wits commencing at The North -'fest corner of the North4ast One-quarter. of the South-east One-quarter,,,Section Twelve (12); Township Thirty-three (3 3) East; Range Thi. rty nifie .(39)' South. Thence east along said line a distance of one-quarter mile. Said Road right-of-way to be not less than Fifty (50) feet in width. vie therefore petition you honorable body to cause to be laid out .and opened a County Road as above described, and we, the owners of the land through which said,Road is sought to be laid out, in consideration of the sum of one dollar to us each and severally in hand paid by the said County ofkuLi�_&51the reciept vf.ewhidh is hereby acknowledged, hereby agree to give the right-of-way through our lands, as shown by the plat accompanying this petition, anti relinquish all claims for damage by reason thereof, (Signed by 26 petitioners) It was ordered that the petition be accepted and D. L. Isishery A. R. Reams and Jessee Grice, be appointed a committee to view, mark and ley oftt said road and make report to this Board. A petition requesting establishment of a public road was filed in the foll words and figures; "TO THE HONORABIlE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS, INDIAN RIVER FLORIDA. We the undersigned respectfully ask thatnyou level down the ditch bank le from the ditch at Colored Cemetery just North of Gifford, leading out gest for a dis of mile, which will enable us to haul our produce out over the north Gifford Road." ( Signed by 9 petitioners) Upon motion duly made and carried it was ordered that said petition bebgrani 11 and the road opened., A petition was filed the same being in the following words and figures; 'ATO TI -E HONORABLE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMIWIOXERS, INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA. We the undersigned petitioners respectfully ask that you place a surface of marl, rock or some kind of dressing on the road leading from the Dixie Highway to the Colered Cemetery ju North of Gifford, to the ditch which said ditch is located at the said Cemetery." (Si, by 43 petitioners). Upon motion duly made and carried it was ordered that the County Engineer make inspection of said location and make report thereon to this Board. Bond of E. P. McCorkle, Notary Public, with American Surety Company as surety was approved. Upon motion duly made and carried it was ordered that bridge across Fl o s .ed 1 1 1 1 1 i 1 1 3?1_ TUESDAY AUGUST 19, 1930. Avenue ditch on B-11 be built. The several bills against the County having been audited, were examined and found corredt, were approved and warrants ordered issued in payment of same, the said bills and accounts being on file in the office of the Clerk of Circuit Court. The warrants so drawn and issued in payment of said bills a nd accounts being listed completely in the County Finance Record, as provided by law, reference to said County Finance record, and the list so recorded therein being made a part of these minutes as fully and complete] as if said warrants were set out herein in detail. There being no further business the :Board then adjourned to meet in regular session Tuesday September 2nd, 19300 unless sooner convened by call of the Chairman. Chai =an. The Board of County Commissioners in and for Indian River County, Florida, met at the Court House in Vero Beach, Florida, at 10 o'clock A.M.Tuesday, September 2nd 1930, with the following members of the Board present: J. D. Yonguet J. Yl, LaBruce; J. J. P. Hamilton and John H. Atkin. .Absent Albert 0. Helseth, Chairman. .Also present were Miles Marren, Clerk and Clark S. Rice, ,sheriff. On motion duly made, seconded and carried, John H. Atkin was named Chairman pro - tem in the absence of the Chairman. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. P.E.Morgan appeared before the Board regarding Ce erection of a fish house on old road leading. to old bridge across Sebastian River, and requested authority for permissi to erect such a building or taking charge of a building already there. It was of the opinion of the Board that they did not have any right in and to the former right-of-way as the road has been abandoned and this Board no longer claims a right of way. B.K.Kersey and Paul Luther appeared before the Board regarding ditch on the Paul Luther road at Winter Beach. It was ordered this road -ditch be opened up when the machine is neer that location. The County Nurse appeared before the Board and made report of her acticities. Mothers' Pension application of Mrs Maude Crosby, of Vero Beach, having been received, and considered, it was ordered she be placed on the pension list to receive $20.00 per month. Application of Tom Herring, colored, Fellsm.ere, Florida, to be placed on the pauper list was received and considered, and ordered he be placed on the pauper list to receive $20.00 per month. The County Agricultural Agent filed his monthly report of activities throughout the County. It wa.s ordered that F. G. Fletche r prepare plans and spe cif icati ons f orma sto re f 6 room and garage at the County Jail. It -was -further-erdeved-that- the- G1erk-prepare-as 41e oi_ad�sx'de It was ordered the Clerk forward to Pauly Jail Building Company, Gt. Louis, Mo., M 16 time warrants of $1,000.00 each on account of jail building contract. The Notary Public bond of Anne Eckhoff in the sum of $500.00 with The American 'Surety Company, a corporation, as surety was approved.
