JULY 16, 2003 July 17, 2003 SPECIAL MEETING OF BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS - BUDGET WORKSHOP Side G — The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida, met in Special Session at the County Commission Chambers, 1840 25th Street, Vero Beach, Florida, on Thursday, July 17, 2003, at 9:00 a.m. Present were Kenneth R. Macht, Chairman; Caroline D. Ginn, Vice Chairman; and Commissioners Fran B. Adams, Thomas S. Lowther, and Arthur R. Neuberger. Also present were James E. Chandler, County Administrator; William G. Collins II, County Attorney; Assistant Administrator Joe Baird; Budget Manager Jason E. Brown; and Patricia Ridgely, Deputy Clerk. CALL TO ORDER The Chairman called the meeting to order and announced 2 items remain. The first a Solid Waste Disposal District Public Hearing —Second matter Sheriff's budget. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG Led by Commissioner Adams (meeting was recessed briefly to hold the Solid Waste Disposal District public hearing. (Minutes are being prepared separately.) Nationwide problem. 7.6% increase unacceptable & inappropriate in today's economy. Police & fire support — consider carefully & review priorities.
