pN MOTION by Commissioner Solari, SECONDED by
Commissioner Flescher, the Board, by a 4-0 vote (Vice
Chairman Davis absent), approved the SWDD meeting minutes
of May 13, 2014, and June 3, 2014, as written.
9:40 3. Amendment No. 4 to Republic Services for MRF Improvement
a.m. Project
(memorandum dated June 27, 2014)
Director of Utility Services Vincent Burke provided background
and analysis on the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) at the
Indian River County landfill. He described safety concerns
within the structure, and explained how the purchase of a
modular block system would save on repair costs and provide
flexibility for the structure in the future.

MOTION WAS MADE by Commissioner Flescher,
SECONDED by Commissioner Zorc, to: (1) approve the direct
purchase of modular blocks from Inter -Block Retaining
Systems, Inc. in the amount of $46,928.00; (2) approve the
Fourth Amendment to Republic Services landfill contract for
the MRF Improvement Project at a not to exceed price of
$18,207.10; and (3) authorize the Chairman to execute said
Agreement.
Director Burke and Managing Director of the Solid Waste
Disposal District Himanshu Mehta addressed questions from
Commissioner Zorc regarding the modular blocks.
The Chairman CALLED THE QUESTION, and by a 4-0 vote
(Vice Chairman Davis absent), the Motion carried.

16. ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, the Chairman declared the meeting adjourned at
9:45 a.m.
