The Board of County Commissioners in and for Indian River County, Florida, met at
the Court House in Vero Beach, on Tuesday, October 14th 1930, at 10 o'clock A.b.with
the following members of the Board present: Albert O.Helseth, Chairman; J.D.Yongue;
J.W,IaBruee; J.J.P.Hamilton and John H Atkin,. Also present were biles Warren, Clerk
and Clark S. Rice, sheriff.
Mr. C. J. Jacoby appeared before the Board respecting the 'Jail grounds and offered
to place a row of trees around the jail grounds in memory of his wife. it was o rde red
that the Mheriff ascertain cost of such trees qtr. Jacoby agreeing to pay for same.
-.-The-, Clerk announced he had received the sum of $3,321.38 representing dividend
check from Vero Beach Bank & Trust Company. It:was ordered that the same be placed in
the following funds, to -wit:
General Revenue- Fund... ,,,,,$l,124.53

Vero Bridge District......... 300.00

The Clerk was instructed to write F.H.Conrad about cutting timber on Tract 706
Tp 32 .E R 37 East, as the taxes have not been paid.
It was ordered that the Chairman and Clerk execute release for John LeRoy Hutch -
icon Properties, a
corporation, from
the judgment held by this Board as
to the lands
which E,M.Gollnick
holds a mortgage,
upon the payment of the State and
County taxes
due on the property.
The Clerk was authorized to settle balance due of $19646.88 to Pauley Jail Build -
ing Company either in Time Warrants or a Time Warrant and cash.
It was ordered that bis Louis Wood be stricken from the bother's Pension list,
it being made known she is now re si ding in Georgia.
Mr. iSnith, representing McNeill Lumber Company appeared before the Board request-
ing road be put in condition at the Dyke line so as to be used to haul logs to ,saw
mill now operating in that vicinity. It uses ordered D.L.Leisher, County Engineer look
into this and see what can be done to remedy the situation.
E C. Dancey appeared before the Board regarding the Fee & Baughman ditch. It was
ordered that the first time the County Engineer is in that vicinity the ditch be carried)

A petition signed by the required number of qualified electors residing within t
District having bibenefiled as required by laws requesting the names of D. C. Cox;
Be- H. Holcomb and B.T.Redtsone to be placed upon the official ballot to be voted for
in Precincts #4; #5; #6 and #7 for the office of Commissioners of Atlantic -Gulf
'Special Road and Bridge District, and the same appearing to be in order and according
to law, it was ordered that such names be printed on the General Election ballot for
the precincts named, being the precincts within the said District.
"W. P. Bailey not having qualified,according to law, as a candidate on the Republi
can Ticket for the office of County Commissioner, in that he failed to designate the
District in which he was a candidate at the primary election, it was ordered that his
name not be placed upon the official ballot as the Republican Candidate and nominee
for any Commissioners District,
The Labor pay rolls as prepared by the County Engineer were examined and approved
and warrants ordered issued in settlement of same. The warrants so issued against the
Road and Bridge Fund being listed completely in the County Finance record as provided
by law, reference to such record and the list so recorded beim made a part of these
minutes as fully and completely as if the saidnwarrants were set out herein in
detail.
The Board of County Commissioners, as provided by law, proceeded to revise the
Registration books of the County, and after carefully examining the some, ordered the

It was ordered that the Clerk prepare the form of the ballot, according to the
names of nominees so certified to be placed upon said ballot, and place thereon also
the severe) Constitutional amendments to be voted upon at said election and certified
by the :secretary of 'State, and that he forthwith have sufficient number of ballots
printed for the various election preeinets,for said election.
There being no further business on motion made, seconded and carried the Board
adjourned.

VEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 22nd 1930,
The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida, met at the Court
House in Vero Beach, at 200 O'clock P.M.Igednesday, October 22nd 1930, with the follow-
ing members of the Board present: Albert 0. Helseth, Chaimnan, J.D.Yongt.e; JX.LeBruce;
J.J.P.Hamilton and John H. Atkin. Also present were Miles Marren, Clerk and Clark S.
Rice, Sheriff.
The Chai muan announced the Special meeting was called for the purpose of con-
sidering a petition signed by qualified voters requesting the name of W'.P.Baileyr to be-
come a candidate at the General Election for the office of County Commissioner, District
#3.
It was moved ,by Commissioner J. W. LaBruce, that the petition be referred to the
Boards attorney for advice and that the Board act according to his instructions. Upon
being put to a vote the motion was carried.
The County Attorney having considered the petition and having ascertained the law
on the subject, rendered his opinion that W.P.Bailey is entitled to have his name placed
upon the official ballot as a Candidate for County Commissioner, District #39 at the
coming General Election. It was ordered, and the Clerk was instructed to add his name
to the ballot before having them same prepared. '
The County Engineer was directed to deliver to the Federal Tick Eradication Board
have a 14 inch pipe to place in road ditch at gest side of Emerson Avenue at Oslo Road.
The 'Sheriff appeared before,the Board and requested the Commissioners to issue
Time Warrants to him for the amounts due him on fees arising and due him as such
officer. The Board's attorney advised that this could not, in his opinion be done.
After cfonsiderable discussion no action was taken.
The Board then adjourned to meet Friday,' October 31st 1930, at 2 P.M,
