This Ordinance is enacted pursuant to Chapter 69:234, 10 Chapter 69.32, Laws of Florida, 1969 and Florida Statute 790. 06 , 1969 Il for the purpose of regulating the carrying of certain firearms in Indian 12 River County. This Ordinance shall apply and be enforced in all areas 13 of Indian River County not within the boundaries of any municipality of 14 the county. 15 Section 2. When used in this Ordinance, ,the following words 16 shall mean: 17 is a- Board shall -mean -the Board of County Commissioners 19 Indian River County, Florida. b. Concealed firearms means any firearms, as defined in 20 subsection (c) when the same is carried on or about a person in such 2i a manner as to conceal said firearm from the ordinary sight -of -another person. 23 c. Firearm means anyyweapon which will, or is designed to or 24 may readily be converted to expel a projectile by the action of an 25 explosive; the frame or receiver of any such weapon; any firearm muffler 26 or ,silencer; any destructive device; or any machine gun. 14:41:15 - Officia[Documents:3, Attachment Id 1, Page 1 27 Section 3. No person, except law enforcement officers as 28 defined in Florida Statute 790.001, shall carry or have in his 2 -9 --manual possession in Indian River -County, Flarida—,any-concealed 30 fft udi in as above defined without having a license issued by tilt Boal d. 31 1Section 4. Standards: Licenses to carry firearms will be 32 granted by the Board for a maximum of two years only to persons 33 over the age of twenty-one (21) years, of good moral character, who 34 have never been convicted of a felony or who having been convicted, 35 have had their civil rights restored. 36 Section 5. Bond: All applicants for a firearm license shall give 37 a bond payable to the Governor of the State in the sum of One Hundred 38 Dollars ($100.00) conditioned for the proper and legitimate use of said 39 firearms, with sureties to be approved by the Board. 40 Section 6. Application: Application for a firearm license shall be 41 . made through the Clerk of the Circuit Court in and for Indian River Countv 42 on forms provided by the Clerk, which form shall include at least the 43 name and address of the applicant, the name of the maker of the firearm 44 licensedA"e-carrfed,the—caliber-and serial-number--of-the firearm, -and 45 the � emen the license is needed. Each application shall be accompanied 46 by a written recommendation of approval signed by the Sheriff of Indian 47 River County and, in the case of an employee, who requests a firearm 48 license because of hisemployment, , a written request for the license 49 signed by the employee's employer. 50 Section 7. Fees: A fee of $5.00 shall be paid by each applicant 51 to the Clerk at'the time of filing of the application. Said fee to be retained 52 regardless of whether the application is approved or denied. Said fees 53 so collected to become part of the General Fund of the County. 54 Section 8.
