ORDINANCE NO. 89- 3
AN ORDINANCE OF INDIAN RIVER
COUNTY, FLORIDA MAKING ADDITIONS,
DE LES' I-ONS-AND_AMENDMENT-S—TO-ART_I-CLE
II (BUILDING CODE); ARTICLE V (GAS
CODE); ARTICLE VI (PLUMBING. CODE);
ARTICLE VII (MECHANICAL CODE); AND
ARTICLE VIII (HOUSING CODE), CODE
OF LAWS AND ORDINANCES OF INDIAN
RIVER COUNTY; PROVIDING FOR
CONFLICTING PROVISIONS; PROVIDING
FOR SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING FOR
I NCORPORAT-I ONS -N —CODE,—AN
PROVIDING FOR EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Indian River County, Florida;

SECTION 1.
Section 4-31, Code of Laws and Ordinances is amended to
Section 4-31. Standard Building Code adopted.

including Appendix A, /1/WWN//W7///Rdl14140, as
published by the Southern Building Code Congress is hereby
adopted by reference as the Indian River County, Florida,
Building Code, subject to the limitations, exceptions, and
modifications set forth herein.

SECTION 2.
Section 4-81, Code of Laws and Ordinances is amended to
Section 4-81. Standard Gas Code adopted.
The Standard. Gas Code, 1888 1988 edition, 1888/81

Congress, is hereby adopted by reference as the gas code of

hereinafter set forth.
SECTION 3.
Section 4-91, Code of Laws and Ordinances is amended to
read:

The standard Plumbing Code, 1889 1988 edition, 1986181.

Congress, is hereby adopted by reference as the plumbing
code of Indian River County, Florida, with such
modifications as herein set forth.
SECTION 4.

to read:
Section 4-101. Standard Mechanical Code adopted.
The Standard Mechanical Code, 1889 1988 edition,
1888/a371Rk1id kAb�h>;/, as printed by the Southern Building Code
Congress, is hereby adopted by reference as the mechanical
code of Indian River County, Florida, with such
modifications as herein set forth.
SECTION 5.
Section 4-106, Code of Laws and Ordinances is amen
to read:
Section 4-106. Standard Housing Code adopted.
The Standard Housing Code, 18$9 1988 edition, 1988181

code for Indian River County, Florida, with such
modifications as may be set forth by the Board of County
Commissioners by ordinance.
SECTION 6.
Conflicting Provisions.
Special acts of the Florida legislature applicable only
to unincorporated areas of Indian River County, County
ordinances and County resolutions, or parts thereof, in
conflict with this ordinance are hereby superseded by this
ordinance to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 7.
Severability.

If any section, or if any sentence, paragraph, phrase,
or word of this ordinance is for any reason held to be
unconstitutional, inoperative, or void, such holding shall
not affect the remaining portions of this ordinance, and it
shall be construed to have been the legislative intent to
pass the ordinance without such unconstitutional, invalid or
inoperative part.
Incorporation in Code.
This ordinance shall be incorporated into the Code of
Laws and Ordinances of Indian River County and the word
"ordinance" may be changed to "section", "article", or other
appropriate word and the sections of this ordinance may be
renumbered or relettered to accomplish such purposes.
SECTION 9.
Effective Date.
This ordinance shall become effective upon receipt from
the Secretary of State of the State of Florida of official
acknowledgment that this ordinance has been filed with the
Department of State.
Approved and adopted by the Board of County
Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida, on this 3rd
day of __Januar 1989.
This ordinance was advertised in the Vero Beach
Press -Journal on the 16thday of December__, 1988, for a
public hearing to be held on the _3rd_ day of _January__
1989, at which time it was moved for adoption by
Commissioner Eggert , seconded by Commissioner
Bird and adopted by the following
