HomeMy WebLinkAbout1991-179/12/ 90(ORDi)Legal(Ob) ORDINANCE 91--L7 AN ORDINANCE OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, DESIGNATING THE CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY CMW ISSIONERS, OR IN HIS ABSENCE, VICE-CHAIRMAN OR BOARD DESIGNEE, IN THIS SUCCESSION, AS THE OFFICIAL WITH AUTHORITY TO DECLARE A STATE OF EMERGENCY IN THE EVENT -OF NATURAL OR MANMADE DISASTER OR THE IMMINENT THREAT THEREOF: AUTHORI SUCH OFFICIAL TO TAKE CERTAIN EMERGENCY MEASURES RELATING THERETO; PROVIDING SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, because of. the existing and continuing possibility of the occurrence of natural or manmade disasters or emergencies and destruction resulting therefrom, and in order to insure the readiness of Indian River County to adequately deal with such disasters and generally provide for the protection of the public health, safety, and welfare and to preserve the lives determined to be In the best interest of Indian River County that provisions be made so that authority to take action exists, and WHEREAS, It is the intent of the County to designate a County official to declare a local state of emergency in the event of a natural or manmade disaster, or in the imminent- threat—thereof—,--and- -to author Ize certarn County Commissioners is unable to meet, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF IND1ANRItiER COUNTY_ FLORIDA: SECTION 1. SECTION 2. SEVERABILITY.
