TUESDAY, MAY 3rd 1932.
The Board of County Commissioners in and for Indian River County, Florida, met at
the Court
House in Vero Beach,
at 10:00
o'clock A.M.Tuesday, May 3rd
1932, with
the
following
members of the Board
present:
Albert 0. Helseth, Chairman;
J.D.Yongue;
J.W.
LaBruce; J.J.P.Hamilton and Eli C. Walker. also present were Miles Warren, Clerk and
C. S. Rice, ;Sheriff.
The minutes of the previous meeting were ready. and approved.
Commissioner I;aBruce introduced the following resolution, which was seconded by
Commissioner Yongue:
R E S O L U T 1 O N
WHEREAS, it has been made to appear to the Indian River County Board of County
Commissioners that it is the desire of marry of the sports fishermen of this County, and
particularly the members of the Indian River County Game and Fish Protective League,
that the predatory fish be removed from hake Blue Cypress, otherwise Isnown as Lake
Wilmington, in order to protect and increase the supply of black bass, and
WHEREAS, the Fish. and Game Department of Florida also desires to remove these
predatory fish and will do so without cost to Indian River County or its citizens.
THEREFORE, BE IT RES01VED by the Board of County Commissioners that the State Fish

and Game Department be requested to remove said predatory fish from Lake Blue Cypress,
without cost to Indian River County, Florida.
Those voting for the resolution being Commissioners LaBruee; Yongue and Helseth.
opposed. Commissioners Hamilton and Walker.
Application of Mrs Bertis Nelson, widow with 6 dependents, for Mothers' Pension
was received. After consideration it vas ordered she be placed on such list to receive
$20.00 per month until further orders of the Board.
The Clerk announced he had received from the State Comptroller Certificate #166,
dated March 24th 19329 showing Barnett National Bank, Cocoa, Florida, the designated
depository and had lodged with him $109000.00 Government bonds as security,all of which
was in conformity with the order of this Board heretofore made designating such Bank
as the County Depository and stipulating the amount and kind of :securities for proper
qualif ication.
The following resolution was introduced by Commissioner.LaBrucei
WHEREAS, the Trans -Florida Central Railro€id Company, operating between Sebastian
and Fellsmere, Florida, have 16.04 miles of such railroad and has been returning the
same for taxation yearly, and
WMREA'S a total of 5.36 miles of said railroad has not been used by said Company
for the past several years, although said Company has regularly returned the same and
such iiileage
has
been assessed for taxing
purposes, and
WHEREAS
the
records of said Railroad
Company show the taxes on said property to be
nearly as much as the gross income of said railroad Company, and,
WHEREAS the Railroad Assessment Board of the State of Florida has agreed that there
is an error in the assessment of said property, in that the 5.36 miles of track should
not be carried as revenue producing property when no operation is carried on over
said track, and,
WHEREA'S the 1930 State and County taxes on said properties amounts to $3,503.15,
of which amount the sum of $1,200.00 has been paid by said Company;
THEREFORE, BE IT RE aOLVED , by the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River
County, Florida, that the sum of x$19000.00 be accepted in full payment of the balance
on the 1930 taxes, conditioned only upon the approval of same by the Railroad
Assessment Board of this State, if paid within 30 days from this date.
Upon being put to a vote the same was unanimously adopted.
J It was ordered that the following designated roads o
n at of Fellsmere Fauns
Company, be closed, it appearing that such roads as designated are not in -use and of_
no importance, and necessary to close the same ' in order that the Fellsmere 'Sugar Co.,
properly carry on their agricultural activities in that vicinity:
One mile road.between laterals "U" and "S" from the Railroad South to Sub -
lateral 34, being sub -laterals 17 to 34 inclui tve.
One milea ef road between Laterals "S" and "q" from the Railroad South to Sub -
lateral 34 being between Sub -laterals "(W 17 to "QE" 34 inclusive.
Upon being put to a vote the same was unanimously carried.
It was moved, seconded and carried that the peninsular road from Wabassso Bridge
road North for 1/2 mile be repaired.
It was ordered that will Rogers varnish and paint benches and Fudge's stand in the
Court room.
The several bills and accounts against the County having been audited, were exam
and found correct were approved, and warrants ordered -issued in settlement of same. The
bills and accounts being on file in the office of the Clerk Circuit Court and the
warrants so issued beim listed completely in the County Finance Record, as provided by
law, reference to such record and the list so recorded being made a part of these min -
Utes as completely as if the same were set out herein in detail.
The County depository filed its monthly statements of receipts and disbumsements
of the various funds, which having been checked were found to be correct.
The County Commissioners, in compliance with law, proceeded to personally inspect
the various offices of the County
There being no further business on motion made, seconded and carried the Board
adjourned until Monday May 16th 1932.
