HomeMy WebLinkAbout9/3/1992SPECIAL MEETING Thursday, September 3, 1992 The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida, met in Special Session at the County Commission Chambers, 1840 25th Street, Vero Beach, Florida, on Thursday, September 3, 1992, at 5:01 o'clock P.M. Present were Margaret C. Bowman, Vice Chairman; Richard N. Bird; and Don C. Scurlock, Jr. Chairman Carolyn C. Eggert was absent due to illness. Also present were James Chandler, County Administrator; Charles P. Vitunac, County Attorney, and Barbara Bonnah, Deputy Clerk. Due to a bad case of laryngitis, Vice Chairman Bowman turned the Chair over to Commissioner Bird, who suggested that this meeting be postponed until such time that Chairman Eggert has recovered and Chairman Bowman has regained her voice. Commissioner Scurlock felt it would be appropriate to postpone it since two of the three Commissioners here tonight are lame ducks and because he has heard that the Governor will appoint John Tippin very shortly to fill the seat left open by Gary Wheeler's resignation. Vice Chairman Bowman inquired if anyone was here from the western part of the county, and if so, perhaps we could hear that part tonight. The Commissioners indicated that it would be best to hear the entire matter at one time. ON MOTION by Commissioner Scurlock, SECONDED by Commissioner Bowman, the Board unanimously (3-0, Chairman Eggert being absent) postponed the preliminary hearing on the LDRs until September 17, 1992, when it could be possible to have five Commissioners in attendance. County Attorney Vitunac explained that since the final public hearing was advertised for September 17, 1992, we can hold the first meeting on that date, and readvertise for the second and final hearing at a later date. ATTEST: J. K. Barton, Clerk Marg et C. Bowman, Vice Chairman
