HomeMy WebLinkAbout2010-123RESOLUTION 2010- 123 A RESOLUTION BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA; ENDORSING EVERY DREAM HAS A PRICE (EDHAP) AS A SPONSORING AGENCY UNDER THE FLORIDA COMMUNITY CONTRIBUTION TAX CREDIT PROGRAM; AND FINDING THAT EDHAP'S HALFWAY HOME TO THE DREAM: A SAFE PLACE TO CALL HOME PROJECT IS CONSISTENT WITH THE INDIAN RIVER COUNTY COMPREHENSIVE PLAN AND THE INDIAN RIVER COUNTY LAND DEVELOPMENT REGULATIONS. WHEREAS, the State, under Section 220.183, Florida Statutes, authorized the Community Contribution Tax Credit Program, which allows any Florida corporation to receive a credit against any corporate income/franchise tax, sales tax, or insurance premium tax due for a taxable year of 50 percent of the value of a donation (not to exceed a $200,000 credit in any one year) for contributions to a State approved community development project; and WHEREAS, the State, under Section 220.03(1)(t), Florida Statutes, defines an eligible community development project to include but not be limited to activity undertaken by an eligible sponsor, which is designed to construct, improve, or substantially rehabilitate housing that is affordable to low income or very low income households; and WHEREAS, Every Dream Has A Price, a non-profit organization incorporated in the state of Florida, proposes to construct low income housing units within Unincorporated Indian River County and meets the criteria as a sponsoring organization under Section 220.183(2)(c), Florida Statutes; and WHEREAS, Every Dream Has A Price is the sponsoring organization applying for approval of the Halfway Home to the Dream: A Safe Place to Call Home project as a State approved Community Development Project. WHEREAS, the County has determined that the Halfway Home to the Dream: A Safe Place to Call Home project is consistent with the County's Comprehensive Plan and Land Development Regulations, 1 RESOLUTION 2010-123 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, THAT: The Board of County Commissioners endorses Every Dream Has A Price as a sponsoring agency under the Florida Community Contribution Tax Credit Program and finds that the Halfway Home to the Dream: A Safe Place to Call Home project, as described in Attachment A, is consistent with the Indian River County Comprehensive Plan and the Indian River County Land Development Regulations. The forgoing Resolution was offered by Commissioner seconded by Commissioner wheeler the vote was as follows: Davis and and upon being put to a vote, Bob Solari, Chairman Aye Gary C. Wheeler, Vice Chairman Aye Wesley S. Davis, Commissioner Aye Joseph E. Flescher, Commissioner Aye Peter D. O'Bryan, Commissioner Aye The Chairman thereupon declared the resolution duly passed and adopted this 14th day of December 2010.
