PROCLAMATION DECLARING AND EXTENDING A LOCAL STATE
OF EMERGENCY IN INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, IN
CONNECTION WITH HURRICANE IRMA
WHEREAS, on September 4th, 2017, Governor Rick Scott, in his capacity as Governor
of the State of Florida, issued Executive Order Number 17-235, declaring that a state of
emergency exists in all or portions of the State of Florida (including Indian River County) by
reason of Hurricane Irma; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to section 101.10(1) of the Code of Indian River County, and
Resolution 2016-120 of the Board of County Commissioners, the County Administrator/Indian
River County Emergency Services District Director is authorized to declare a local state of
emergency upon making a determination that a natural disaster has occurred or is imminent,
requiring immediate and expeditious action,
WHEREAS, in my capacity as County Administrator and Indian River County
Emergency Services District Director, I determined that, by reason of Hurricane Irma, the threat
of a natural disaster had occurred or was imminent, requiring immediate and expeditious action,
and declared that a local state of emergency existed in all of Indian River County, Florida,
effective as of 1:00 p.m., on the 7th day of September, 2017; and
WHEREAS, in my capacity as County Administrator and Indian River County
Emergency Services District Director, I determined that, by reason of Hurricane Irma, that a
local state of emergency existed and continued in all of Indian River County, Florida, effective
as of 1:00 p.m.,on the 14th day of September, 2017; and
WHEREAS, in my capacity as County Administrator and Indian River County
Emergency Services District Director, I determined that, by reason of Hurricane Irma, that a
local state of emergency existed and continued in all of Indian River County, Florida, effective
as of 1:00 p.m., on the 21st day of September, 2017; and
WHEREAS, as of September 28t, 2017, Indian River County is still suffering the effects
of Hurricane Irma, which continue to pose a threat to the public health, safety and welfare of the
citizens of Indian River County;

NOW,THEREFORE, in my capacity as County Administrator and Indian River County
Emergency Services District Director, I hereby (1) determine that, by reason of Hurricane Irma,
the threat of a natural disaster has occurred, requiring immediate and expeditious action, and (2)
declare that a local state of emergency exists and continues in all of Indian River County,
Florida,effective as of 1:00 p.m., on September 28th, 2017,
