HomeMy WebLinkAbout1/7/1933AM TMMMA 3W UARY 7th 19330 The Board of County Commissioners in and for Indian River County, Florida, met at the Court House in Vero Beach, at 10:00 o'clock A.Y.Tuesday, February 7th 19339 with the following members of the Board present: J.J.P.Hamilton, Chai=an; J.D.Yongue; Wm. T. Feazell,Br., and Edwin A. Helseth. !Absent John N. Knight. Also present were Miles. War- ren, Clerk and William Fricl;,Sheriff. The minutes of the previous meetings were read and approved. Adam Rorick appeared before the Board regarding $45.05 mailed G R Olmstead, Tax Collector for taxes on the J.O.Eckhoff place and no receipt was issued. The Board advised him there was nothing it can do in the premises. R.D.Reams appeared before the Board advising that seine and fish net's and traps were being used in Lake Wilmington. It was moved, seconded and carried that the house occupied by the Road Superinten- dent be repaired and an additional room be added. Angus Sumner, State Attorney, appeared before the Board requesting that Tax Coll- ector distribute funds weekly and requested the County Commissioners to follow the statutes in the discharge of their duties. It was moved by Commissioner Helseth and seconded by Commissioner Feasell that the salary of all Bridge Tenders be set at $60.00 per month. Upon being put to a vote Commissioners Helseth and Feazell voted for the zsx motion and Commissioners Yongue and Hamilton voted against the same. It was ordered that a vote of thanks be extended Sheriff William Frick, for mater- ially reducing the criminal cost bills and the feed of prisoners for the month of January, 1933, over previous months. The following resolution was offered by Commissioner Feazell who moved its adoption WAS, The Legislature of this State has placed a law upon the books of this Sta permitting the payment of State and County taxes with bonds and/ or coupons up to and including the year 1929; and, ;TAS, it is apparent from the Tax records of this County that it is necessary and o mandatthat acceptance _._...._ _W�'7_ cf lends and/or coupons be accepted for all delinquent taxes now existing on the real estate of this County# provided, of course, the State tax is collected and remitted in cash; TH3REPORE9 BE IT FMOOLVID, by the ,Board of County Commissioners of Indian River - County, .Florida, in regular meeting assembled that the Clerk be instructed, with the ap- proval of the Comptroller, to accept bonds and,/or coupons in full settlement of all County taxe and bonds and/or coupons in settlement of all special taxing District ob- ligate s and taxes in so far as the interest of the respective District appears as to each and every year of the delinquency, and all maintenance of Special School Districts to be collected in cash! RE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be traneai.tted to the State Comptroller for his approval and he is urged to improve the assise and agree to acccept1:the Clsrk0a reports from month to month of all tax sale certificates now outstanding when paid in bonds and/or caupons. Commissioner Yongue seconded the foregoing resolution, and upon being put to a vote the same was unanimously adopted: L. M. The warrants issued in settlement of same being listed completely in the County Finance Record, as provided by law, reference to such 'record and the list so recorded being made a part of these minutes as fully and completely as if the same were set out herein in detaiil. The County Depository filed its monthly statements of the receipts and disbursement of the various funds, which having been checked and audited were found to be correct.
