A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COU
COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY;'df;
FLORIDA, SUPPORTING THE DES I GNAT I ON OF
PORTION OF THE SEBASTIAN RIVER AS A NUI

MANATEE PROTECTION AREA.
WHEREAS, the Department of National Resources Is
considering designating portions of the Sebastian River,
Including the North Fork, as a manatee protection area; and
WHEREAS, manatees are observed in these areas in
great numbers regularly and frequently; and
WHEREAS, the manatee would be eligible for
protection under Department of Natural Resources' rules
regulating the operation of speed or motor boat traffic were
this area to be designated for special protection;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of
County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida hereby
supports and endorses the efforts of the Department of
Natural Resources to provide special protection by rule to
the manatee habitat in the area of the Sebastian River,
especially the North Fork thereof.

Scurlock and seconded by Commissioner Eggert

The Chairman thereupon declared the resolution
