HomeMy WebLinkAbout1956-001RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the Board of Public Instruction of Indian River County, Florida, did, on the 10th day of November, 1955, adopt a Resolution: Requesting Approval by the State Superintendent of Public Instruction of the Proposal of the Boaz -d of Public Instruction of Indian River County, Florida, a Body corporate, for and on behalf of Special Tax School District No. 1, of said County, to issue Bonds in the amount of $1, 659, 000. 00, for the purpose of raising funds with which to construct new improvements and additions to the Public SC11001 Plants and Public School System of Indian River County, Florida, and to equip same, and, WHEREAS, the Board of Public Instruction of Indian River County, Florida, did, on the i5th day of November, 1955, by Resolution call a special election to be held in Special Tax School District No. 1, of Indian River County, Florida, on the 20th day of December, 1955, to vote on the question of: Shall Special Tax School District No. 1, of Indian River County, Florida, issue bonds in the aggregate principal amount of not exceeding $1, 659, 000. 00, bearing interest, payable semi-annually, at such rate or rates, not exceeding the legal rate, as shall be determined at the time of the sale thereof, and maturing, serially in annual installments over a period of not to exceed twenty years from the date of said bonds, for the purpose of financing the cost of acquiring, building, enlarging, furnishing or otherwise im- proving buildings or school grounds, as more specifically des- cribed and provided in the resolution of the Board of Public In- struction of Indian River County, Florida, adopted on the 10th dzjy of November, 1955, find, WHEREAS, pursuant to said Resolutions, a special election was field in Special Tax School District No. I, Indian River County, P'lori da, on December 20, 1955, to vote upon said Issue; and, WHEREAS, the Supervisor of Registration of Indian River County, Florida, has certified to the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida, the names of all registered freeholders within said District and County qualified to vote in said election; and, WHEREAS, the votes cast In said election have been returned, tallied and canvassed; and, WHEREAS, the results of the canvass of said election have been certified to this Board by the Board of Public Instruction of Indian River County, Florida; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that it is hereby determined by the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Ulorida, that the total number of qualified electors, being registered freeholders residing in Special 'Fax School District No. 1, Indian River County, Florida, qualified to participate In said special election, was - 4, 705 qualified electors; and, BE ITFURTHER RESOLVED, that the total number of votes cast in said election in favor of the approval of the bonds, the issue in said election, was 2, 723 , and the total number of votes cast in said election against the approval of said bonds, the issue of said election, was 207 and, the total number of spoiled ballots cast in said election was lb and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a majority of the freeholders who are qualified electors residing in Special Tax School District No. 1, Indian River County, Viorida, participated in said special election and a majority of the votes cast in said special election were cast in favor of approving the Issuance of said bonds.
