HomeMy WebLinkAbout1958-015RESOLUTION BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida, that this Board does herewith find and determine that this Board has been presented with a petition signed by more than five per cent of the resident freeholders of Indian River County, Florida, asking that an annual tax may be levied for the establishment and maintenance of a public, i hospital located at Vero Beach, Florida, and which said petition did specify the sum of $750, 000. OU as the maximum amount of money proposed to be expended in purchasing or building said hospital; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Board does herewith determine that it shall submit the question as to whether or not bonds in an amount not to exceed $750, 000.00 shall be issued by the County to provide funds for the purchase and the erection of a public hospital and for the support of the same, which bonds shall be payable within thirty (30) years and whether or not a tax s In an amount not to exceed five mills shall be levied upon the assessed prop- i' erty of Indian River County, Florida, for the support of a public hospital, which said question shall be submitted to the qualified electors of Indian River County, Florida, who are freeholders at the next general election to be held in this County, to -wit: On November 4, 1958; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that notice of such election shall be given at least thirty (30) days prior to the date of said election in the Vero Beach Press Journal, a newspaper of general circulation published in this County, which notice shall include the text of said petition and state the amount of the tax to be levied upon the assessed property of this County, which tax shall not exceed five mills on the dollar; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said election shall be held at the usual places in this County for voting upon County officers and shall be can- vassed in the same manner as the vote for County officers is canvassed; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the ballots to be used in said elect- ion at which such hospital question is submitted shall be printed with a statement substantially as follows: II �k MITCHELL, SMITH 6 MITCHELL, ATTORNEYS AT LAW, VERO BEACH, FLORIDA
