TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 12th 1933.
The Board of County Commissioners in and for Indian River County, Florida, met at
the Court House in Vero Beach, at 10:00 o'clock .A.M.Tuesday, September 12th 1933, with
the following members of the Board present: J.J.P.Hamilton; J.D.Yongue; John MoKnight
and Edwin A. Helseth. Also present were Miles Warren, Clerk and William Frick,Bheriff.
It was ordered that the Clerk write the State Comptroller and ascertain whether or
not the Board of County Commissioners have the right to permit the cutting and removing
of timber from lands upon which the taxes have not been paid, with the understanding
that the sum of $4.00 per thousand feet will be turned into the Clerk's office to apply
on the taxes delinquent and due.
It was moved, seconded raid carried that application be filed for loan of $60,000.
with the Federal Emergency Administration of Public Works for the purpose of constru-
ction of a Court House on County property.
It was moved, seconded and carried that a deed be made and executed by this Board
on behalf of Indian River County for a strip of land approximately 30 feet on the. East
side of road which is located on East side of the 5 acres owned by the County for
Court House and Jail purposes to the owners of the land abutting the same and such
owners in turn to make deed for an equal amount of land on the South end of the said
5 € cres as now owned by the County.
It was ordered that a resolution be prepared to declare an open season on turtle
doves from Sen tember 15th to November 15th 1933.
It was ordered that the Clerk dispatch a letter to Hon. We P. Mo oty, member of the
State Road Board from this district and thank him on behalf of this Board for his
efforts in securing funds for the repairing of the Vero Bridge.
It was moved, seconded and carried that the Clerk write the Governor and request
he take up with the Federal authorities the question of assistance for citrus growers
in Florida on account Of the recent tropical storms.
It was moved by Com'r Knight and seconded by Com'r. Yongue that the motion and
order to prepare application for loan of $60,000.00 to construct a Court House be
deferred until further order of this Board. Com'r. Helseth voted against this motion.
There being no further business on motion made, seconded and carried the Board
djourned until Wednesday, September 20th 1933.

The Board of County Commissioners in and for Indian River County, Florida, met at
the Court House in Vero Beach, at* 2:00 o'clock P.M.Wednesday, September 20th 19331, with
the following members of the Board present: J .J .P.Ihmilton; J .D.Yo ague; John M. Knight
nd Edwin .A Helseth. Also present were Miles Warren, Clerk and Wm. Frick, Sheriff.
The following described County warrants, having; been duly issued, and returned
laimed, it Baas ordered that same be cancelled by this Board, and the Clerk instructed
o make the necessary entries on the County Finance record:

R. E. lodge, Fellsmere, recently appointed by the Governor as County Commissioner,
District No. 29 appeared in person and presented his bond as such Commissioner, in the
sum of $2,000.00, as provided by law, with the National Surety Corporation, a corporation,
as :surety, which was approved by, this Board.
The Clerk announced the Board of Administration had forwarded to his office copies
of the several bids submitted for the sale of bonds of the Coau-ity in complicanee with th
resolution of this Board to avail themselves of the Kanner Bill of the 1933 Legislature,

and same were read and carefully considered.
The following resolution was introduced by Commissioner Helseth, and he moved its
adoption:
r;REAS, the Board of Administration has submitted certain proposals to sell to sai
Board of Administration bonds of the County of Indian River, under the provisions of
House Bill No. 309 of the 1933, session of the Legislature, and,
WHEREAS, after carefully considering all of such proposals, and considering the
amount offunds on hand with said Board of Administration, and taking into consideration
all conditions
as
now
exist, it
is
deemed advisable to reject
all bids, with the excep-
tion of a part
of
the
proposal
of
the First National Trust &
Savings Bank, Port Huron,
Hi chigan;
THERMPLIRE be it resolved that the Board of Administration be requested to purchase
said Bank, the following bonds of Special Road & Bridge District No. 1, at a price of
34 flat: Two of a total of five of such bonds of said District.
Upon being pur to a vote the same was unanimously adopted.
The Clerk was instructed to notify F. Earl DeLoe and W. H. Garm.s, that the Board
will further consider the construction of a Court House on -October 3rd, and each of the:
gentlemen are invited to be present at that time and have such plans, specifications and
proposals, with the distinct understanding the County assumes no obligation by reason
of this invitation.
It was ordered Mrs Sallie Roberson be stricken from the pauper list, it appearing
she has removed beyond the limits of the County.
Troy E. Doody, Tax Collector, appeared before the Board regarding the collection
personal property taxes on the 1932 tax roll. He advised that the State Comgtroller
requested that personal property tax be collected and requested that the Board lend its
assistance to this end and furnish legal assistance if necessary. After considerable
discussion, it was moved, seconded and carried that the Tax Collector make a drive to
collect personal property taxes and if suit is filed the County .Attorney is directed to
assist the Tax Collector for a fee of $75.00 if one suit is filed or $100.00 if two
suits are filed, and if carried to the State 'Supreme Court a fee of $100.00 additional
will be paid. The Commissioners voting in favor of the motion being Com'rs Kni4ht and
Yongue. Comm,issioher Helseth voting against the motion.
There being no further business on motion made, seconded and carried the Board
adjourned.
