HomeMy WebLinkAbout1962-021TUESDAY, MARCH 27, 1962 The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, met at the Courthouse, Vero Beach, Florida, in a regular meeting held at 8:00 o'clock, A. M., Tuesday, March 27, 1962. All members were present. Also present were Ed Schmucker, County Engineer, John Gould, Attorney, Al Webber and Freda Wright, Deputy Clerks. Upon Motion made by Commissioner Hamilton, seconded by Commis- sioner Macdonald and unanimously carried, a copy of Report No. 5+23, made on the audit of the accounts and records of the Clerk, Sheriff and County Judge of Indian River County is ordered filed as a part of the public records of the Board, pursuant to Section 21.121 (3), Florida Statutes. Mr. James T. Vocelle, Attorney, appeared before the Board with an application by Ruth M. Johnson for a permit to practice palmistry. After some discussion and upon Motion made by Commissioner Macdonald, se- conded by Commissioner Waddell and unanimously carried, the application was denied and the following Resolution adopted. R E S 0 L U T I 0 N WHEVAS, Ruth M. Johnson has presented to the Clerk of the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida, an application for a permit for a license to engage in the occupation of palmistry in Indian River County, Florida; and, WHEREAS, Douglas Baker, the Clerk of the Board of County Commis- sioners of Indian River County, Florida, has made an investigation and examination of Ruth M. Johnson and has reported the results thereof to the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida, at its next regular meeting after the presentation of said application; and, WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida has considered the application and the report of the Clerk of the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida, and is duly advised; and, WHEREAS, many organizations and individuals have objected to and opposed the issuance of the said permit; and, WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida, finds and is of the opiafas tbat.tke iasssuwa.to asV aereem of a, permit to engage in the occupation of paLittry In-bu " River somaty, Florida, would not be to the bsst`intereita rf'f1 ,resid"to of I04481 . River County, Florida, but, to the century,. d` be.detrimsa"L to their interest; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Comaty ConnieaLsoors of Indian River County, Florida, that Ruth M. Johason has not complied with mad fulr filled the requirements of Chapter 205.411, Florida Statutes of 1961, so as to entitle her to a permit for a license to engage in the occupation of palmistry in Indian River County, Florida; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Board orders the above mentioned permit denied. Mr. W. H. Dacamara and Mr. Joe E. Rose from Delray Beach appeared before the Board and stated that the sewer plant in pine View park was about 250 feet from their property'line and that 450 feet is required by FHA. They are planning to build FHA homes and the sewer plant where it is now located would make several lots unavailable for FHA Financing. The Chairman announced that this was a legal matter and completely out of the jurisdiction of the Board. Al Webber, Deputy Clerk, presented for the Clerk, a cost estimate for tiling the ladies' and men's rooms in the Courthouse. The tiling was ordered tabled until near the end of the fiscal year to determine if there would be enough money available. Al Webber, reported for Mrs. Christensen that Mrs. Scott is no longer under the county welfare care and that Mrs. Scott has a balance of $63.11 due her. Upon Motion made by Commissioner Macdonald, seconded by Commissioner McCullers and unanimously carried, Mr. Webber was authorized to refund the balance to her. !,ouN 7 pi A47
