HomeMy WebLinkAbout1962-027The County Attorney reported that: the Harrison Jones suit had been revived and that it could take several more months to bring it to a close. The Chairman presented a Resolution from the Central and Southern Florida Flood Control District Hoard. Upon Motion made by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Macdonald, and unanimously carried, the Resolution was adopted as follows: RESOLUTION WHEREAS Indian River County is considered a part of Central and Southern Florida Flood Control District, and WHEREAS Indian River County has been paying taxes assessed by the District for many years, and WHEREAS no construction work has been started on the Flood Control Project in Indian River County by the Flood Control District, and WHEREAS the Flood Control District and the Corps of Engineers have completed several plans of improvement for the Upper St. Johns River Basin and specifically in Indian River County, and WHEREAS the most recent plan has been completed by the Corps of Engineers and submitted to higher authority for approval, and WHEREAS the Flood Control District must also approve or disapprove this plan before any work can be programed, and WHEREAS we believe that construction of certain works of the project on a priority basis woald prove most beneficial to Indian River County, NOW. THEREFORE, be it resolved that we respectfully request the Central and Southern Florida Flood Control district Board to approve these items of the pian under a. priority program as follows: and, (1) Construction of the dam downstream of Lake Poineett. (2) Construction of the emergency outfall canal into Sebastian River. (3) Construction of a dam downstream of Lake Washington. (4) Such other works as can be constructed concurrently. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County will assist in any way possible in meeting these works under construction at an early date. This Resolution adopted this 21,(t day of BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ATTE / INDIAN RIVE1R COUNT Clerk C airman (SEAL) Al Webber, Deputy Cleric, presented the Indian diver County Library budget. The Chairman suggested the budget be filed until such time as the County Commissioner's budget is prepared. The County Engineer suggested some improvements that could be made to the Dale Wimbrow park in Sebastian. After some discussion and upon Motion made by Commissioner Macdonald, seconded by Commissioner McCullers, and unanimously carried, the County Engineer is authorized to advertize for a flat price bid on a 3 inch well and an alternate bid for a 4 inch artesian well to be drilled on the Wimbrow Park. The various county officials met with the Board to discuss the c"y various accounting problems. After considerable discussion and upon ; Motion made by Commissioner Macdonald, seconded by Commissioner McCull,er$ and unanimously carried, the County Attorney is to prepare a Resolution I setting out the expenses to be paid by the various offices and the ex- penses to be paid by the Board and present at the next meeting for
