WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida, have held a meeting with the wholesalers and retailers of motor fuels in Indian River County, and WHEREAS, said Board has examined Indian River County's motor fuel allocation as established under the Emergency Petroleum Alloca- tion Act of 1973, and WHEREAS, said Board is of the opinion that the statistical data used to establish Indian River County's motor fuel allocation was outdated and erroneous, and WHEREAS, the amount of motor fuel allocated .:or Indian River County is grossly insufficient and the shortage of motor fuel in Indian River County has precipitated an economic crisis in that the economic life of the three major industries of the county, agriculture, Piper Aircraft and tourism depends on sufficient quantities of motor fuel, and WHEREAS, local petitions for adjustment or assignment on Form FEO-17 have been completely ignored by the Region 4 Atlanta office, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, 1. That Indian River County be considered for additional alloca- tions of motor fuel on an emergency priority basis to avoid an economic crisis. 2. That the Federal Energy Office consider and utilize the following information in establishing motor fuel allocations for Indian River County: a. Indian River County is undergoing a rapid increase in population having gained 8, 386 people since the 1970 census. 1970. than in 1972. b. Building construction has increased over 500% since c. Piper Aircraft Corporation has 500 more employees d. 10, 229 acres of citrus have been planted since 1970. 40 0 e. That the number of tourists visiting Indian River County has increased 10016 since 1970. f. The assessment roll for taxes in the county has increased to more than three times the 1970 value. 3. That copies of this Resolution be sent to the Administrator of the Federal Energy Office, P. O. Box 2893, Washington, D.
