HomeMy WebLinkAbout1974-013D RESOLUTION No7- -13_ WHEREAS, Indian River County, Florida, is critically short of motor fuel due to the national energy crisis, and allocations for Indian River County have been made by the Federal Energy Office without considering the rapid growth of the county, its increased agricultural acreage or its increased amount of tourists, and WHEREAS, it is imperative that the non-essential use of motor fuel be decreased in order to insure availability of motor fuel for essential services, and WHEREAS, the saving of motor fuel can be accomplished through the help and cooperation of all Indian River County citizens, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that it requests all citizens to reduce the amount of non-essential motor fuel used by: 1. Not using their automobiles unless absolutely necessary. 2. Not buying motor fuel until their tanks are down to 1/2 of a tank or less. 3. Buying motor fuel only in the afternoons so that essential service vehicles may fill up in the mornings. 4. Forming car pools for driving to work, for buying groceries, shopping, picking up mail, transportation of children, recreational activities and any other trips requiring the use of an automobile. 5. Using only one automobile in a two automobile family. 6. Not hoarding motor fuel in barrels or other containers BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That the Board requests all citizens to be patient and cooperative with the motor fuel retailers and their employees as they are doing the best job they can do under very trying circumstances.
