HomeMy WebLinkAbout1976-081as aP 40 BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA RESOLUTION NO, 76 - 81 WHEREAS the Board of County Commissioners for Indian River County on behalf of its citizens, desire to honor Edward Massey for his services to Indian River County while a County Commissioner from November 5, 1968 to November 16, 1976, representing District 1 and, WHEREAS Edward Massey during his two terms as a County Commissioner expressed deep concern for the preservation of Ocean frontage and other natural habitat within Indian River County and, WHEREAS Edward Massey's efforts helped preserve the Jungle Trail as a scenic drive; spur the acquisition of the Sebastian Inlet State Park while protecting fisherman's rights of access to the park, negotiate leases with the Florida Inland Navigation District for Islands in the Indian River, now being used for recreation purposes, and many other worthwhile projects that benefit county residents and visitors alike and, WHEREAS Edward Massey has served with distinction as Vice Chairman of the County Commission, Vice Chairman of the Board of Tax Adjustment, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors of the RockRidga Street Lighting District and many committee chairmanships both State and Local. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida, that the Board honors Edward Massey on behalf of all the citizens of Indian River County for the many valued contributions and diligent effort provided by Edward Massey during his terms as a County Commissioner. � R�VEk c0 4 GZ L0Rl� Chair an, oun y Commissio ' s
