HomeMy WebLinkAbout1976-088RESOLUTION NO. 76-8 8 WHEREAS, Indian River County is honored to have as one of its residents a man who has achieved stardom in the baseball world as a player, coach and manager during his thirty-five (35) year career; and WHEREAS, DANNY OZARK as a player, began his career as a second baseman, but after his first season, switched to first base; and WHEREAS, in 1956 DANNY OZARK in his first year as a player -manager hit four (4) consecutive homeruns which is a BIG STATE LEAGUE RECORD; and WHEREAS, in 1963 DANNY OZARK was named Pacific League Manager of the year; and WHEREAS, On November 1, 1972 DANNY OZARK became the Manager of the Philadelphia Phillies after spending Thirty-one (31.) years with the Dodger Organization; and WHEREAS, During the four-year span that DANNY OZARK was the Manager of the Philadelphia Phillies, he has brought a last place team to Champions of the National League East; and WHEREAS, DANNY OZARK, in 1976 placed five (5) of his players on the All Star Team for the National League as well as being named an All Star Coach under Sparky Anderson; and WHEREAS, DANNY OZARK has cultivated three (3) Golden Glove Award winners off his 1976 National League East Championship Team; and WHEREAS, DANNY OZARK has personally received Manager of the Year Awards from Sporting News, The Associated Press and The United Press; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that Indian River County is proud to have as one of its residents a man of such high caliber as DANNY (,,.,ARK, and the COMMISSION, through this Resolution, desires to honor.
