RESOLUTION NO. 77-121
WHEREAS, on March 13, 1974, The Spoil Islands Report
was prepared and delivered by the Environmental Study
Committee of Vero Beach - Indian River County Planning
Commission; and
WHEREAS, PATRICK LYONS, ROY HAIR, BOB BERG, TOMMY
THOMAS and JOE EARMAN, SR., were instrumental in preparing
the Spoil Islands Report; and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Indian
River County, Florida, on the 6th day of April, 1977,
adopted Resolution No. 77-37, describing the Spoil
Islands and evidencing an intent to preserve the Islands
for enviroranental recreational purposes; and
WHEREAS, ori January 5, 1977, The Hoard of County
COnunissi.oners of Indian River County, Florida, appointed
the Marine Island Advisory Commission, made up of the
following persons, representing various segments of our
County:

WHERr•.AS, On December 7, 1977, the Board of County
Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida, passed
Ordinance No. 77-37, rezoning the described Spoil Islands
to a Marine Park District; and
WHEREAS, the above named Members of the Marine Island
Advisory Commission are directly responsible for the
governmental actions that have been taken to date for the
purpose of preserving the Spoil Islands in the Indian River
for environmental and recreational purposes;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, That the
Board, on behalf of itself and the citizens of Indian River
County, Florida, honor the following members of the Marine
Island Advisory Commission:

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, THAT THE; BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, urges the
above honored Members of the Marine Island Advisory Commission
to continue their worthwhile efforts to bring the control of
the Spoil Islands back to the local governmental levels,
thereby insuring the Islands' protection and preservation in
the years to come.
Said Resolution shall become effective as of the
21st- day of December, 1977.
