HomeMy WebLinkAbout1980-023RES0LUTI ON NO. 80-23 WHEREAS, the County of Indian River has been invited to combine with the East Central Florida Regional Planning Council as a participant in a Combined Entitlement Jurisdiction within the State Planning District VI for the purpose of preparing, developing and implementing a criminal justice program under the Justice System Improvement Act (JSIA) of 1979; and WHEREAS, the County of Indian River has thoroughly considered avail- able information regarding this matter from the Florida Council on Criminal Justice; and WHEREAS, such a combination will result in the pooling of resources and increased administration efficiency; and WHEREAS, participating governments within the Combined Entitlement Jurisdiction will be assured of specific annual funding commitments under the JSIA. BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED BY THE COUNTY OF INDIAN RIVER IN OPEN MEETING ASSEMBLED IN THE CITY OF VERO BEACH, COUNTY OF INDIAN RIVER, FLORIDA THIS 20th DAY OF February, 1980, AS FOLLOWS: 1. That the County of Indian River declares its intent to elect participation in a Combined Entitlement Jurisdiction with The East Central Florida Regional Planning Council within State Planning Distirct VI of the State of Florida as a bene- ficiary of the funds under the JSIA of 1979 during fiscal years 1981 through 1983; and 2. That The East Central Florida Regional Planning Council be authorized to file in behalf of this Combined Entitlement Jurisdiction, the necessary plans, applications and requisi- tions in the form prescribed by the Florida Bureau of Criminal Justice Assistance for a Criminal Justice Improvement Grant; and 3. That the said East Central Florida Regional Planning Council is further authorized to furnish such information and take such action as may be necessary to enable the Combined Entitlement Jurisdiction to qualify for said grant; and 4. That the County of Indian River hereby agrees to enter into a formal inter -local agreement with the East Central Florida Regional Planning Council, as specified in Chapter 163 of the Florida Statutes, for the purpose of accomplishing the tasks associated with this Combined Entitlement Jurisdiction designation. 5. That this resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption. DONE AND ORDERED in open meeting.
