HomeMy WebLinkAbout1999-278Y 49 - AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO THE PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERING SERVICES AGREEMENT 66T° AVENUE PAVING AND DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS BETWEEN SR 60 TO 4th STREET IRC PROJECT NO. 9810 THIS is an amendment to the existing AGREEMENT dated November 17, 1998, between CARTER ASSOCIATES, INC. (ENGINEER) and INDIAN RIVER COUNTY (COUNTY). This amendment address changes in "SECTION I - PROJECT LIMITS", "SECTION III - SCOPE OF SERVICES" and "SECTION V - COMPENSATION', of the AGREEMENT. PROJECT LIMITS The section of the AGREEMENT entitled "SECTION I - PROJECT LIMITS" shall be revised to include a portion of 66" Avenue approximately 800 feet north of SR 60, and also a portion of 66'' Avenue from ITh Street to 4' Street. The added limits shall also include all side streets connecting to 66' Avenue within 1,200 feet of 66' Avenue including 8' Street and 41 Street. SCOPE OF SERVICES The section of the AGREEMENT entitled "SECTION Ill - SCOPE OF SERVICES" shall be revised to include the additional professional services as follows: ENGINEER, through its subcontractor, Jenkins & Charland, Inc. will prepare preliminary and final bridge/structural plans for the bridge over the Main Relief Canal. Bridge plan submittals will be made at 30%, 90% and 100% stages. The bridge consists of a three -lane bridge with shoulders and sidewalks on both sides expandable to five lanes at a later date. The bridge will be skew and approximately 100 feet long. Scope of Services includes structural design for the bridge, preparation of reproducible drawings, and providing special provisions, quantities, and our opinion of construction cost. ENGINEER will provide design and permitting tasks, as described in the original Professional Engineering Services Agreement, for an expanded project limits described above. The 4"' Street and 80' Street intersections will be designed to provide left turn lanes in all four C.Ncor&o11ice7\Capi1a1 Projeas'V810 Amendment 1.wpd Page 1 s directions, similar to the 12" Street intersection (currently under design). Traffic control at 4's Street and 8' Street intersections will be by four-way stop signage and pavement markings (non - signalized). It is anticipated that stormwater management will be handled by wet detention lakes. COMPENSATION This section of the AGREEMENT entitled "SECTION V - COMPENSATION' shall be revised in response to the Scope modifications set out herein. The charges associated with Section V above are $95,000.00. AGREEMENT shall be increased from $66,000.00 to $161,000.00 The AGREEMENT is hereby amended as specifically set forth herein. All sections of the AGREEMENT shall remain in full force and effect, and are incorporated herein. This Amendment No. I to the AGREEMENT regardless of where executed, shall be governed by and construed by the laws of the State of Florida. Based on our discussions, we propose the following scope of services: Item A. Bridge Design Carter Associates, Inc. (CAI) through its sub -consultant, Jenkins & Charland, Inc. (bridge consultant), will prepare preliminary and final bridge/structural plans for the bridge over the Main Canal. Bridge plan submittals will be made at the 30%, 90% and 100% stages. The bridge consists of a 3 -lane bridge with shoulders and sidewalks on both sides expandable to 5 lanes at a later date. The bridge will be skew and approximately 100 feet long. Our scope of services includes structural design for the bridge, preparation of reproducible drawings, and providing special provisions, quantities, and our opinion of construction cost. Services specifically excluded are services during bidding and construction, soil investigation, geotechnical epo neering, and architectural design. and detailing. Roadway Design and Permitting for Paving and Drainage of 66'h Avenue betweart-`-- 12th Street and 4'h Street CAI will provide design and permitting tasks, as described in the original Professional Engineering Services Agreement, for an expanded project limits to include 66th Avenue from approximately 800 feet north of SR 60 to approximately 800 feet south of 4'h Street. This changes the limits of the scope of improvements from approximately 1 mile of roadway to 2 miles of roadway and adds the 4`h Street and 8'h Street intersections.
