RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER
COUNTY, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING THE CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW ROAD
EXTENSION OF AVIATION BOULEVARD FROM US 1 AVENUE EAST TO 37TH
STREET TO INCLUDE MULTIMODAL IMPROVEMENTS FOR THE 2024 COUNTY
INCENTIVE GRANT PROGRAM (CIGP) APPLICATION FOR THE FLORIDA
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (FDOT).
WHEREAS, the new roadway construction to connect Aviation Boulevard to 37th Street, is
in the IRC MPO 2045 Long Range Transportation Plan and the Capital Improvement Element of the
County's Comprehensive Plan; and
WHEREAS, the construction of the project will alleviate traffic along US 1, from Aviation
Boulevard to 37th Street; and
WHEREAS, the construction of the project will provide an alternate route to Indian River
County's main medical corridor, including the Cleveland Clinic hospital; and
WHEREAS, the State of Florida, Department of Transportation, has requested Indian River
County submit to the State of Florida, Department of Transportation, this Resolution of Support
for the 2024 CIGP application.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the Chairman of the Board is hereby authorized to sign and
submit to the State of Florida, Department of Transportation, a Resolution of Support for the
Aviation Boulevard Extension project. The maintenance of said roadway, sidewalks and bike paths
will be maintained by Indian River County once completed.
The foregoing resolution was offered by Commissioner Flescher
moved its adoption. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Loar
being put to a vote, the vote was as follows:
