HomeMy WebLinkAbout2026-022OFFICE OF THE COUNTYADMINISTRA TOR INDIAN RIVER COUNTY 1801 27th Street, Vero Beach, FL 32960-3388 Phone: 772-226-1408 - Fax: 772-978-1822 INDIAN RIVER COUNTY EMERGENCY ORDER 2026-001 WHEREAS, on February 7, 2026, Upon the request of the Emergency Services Director, I, in my official capacity as County Administrator, and acting pursuant to section 101.10(1) of the Code of Indian River and Resolution 2024-016 of the Board of County Commissioners, declared that a local state of emergency exists in all of Indian River County, Florida, by reason of wildfires; and WHEREAS, by reason of such declarations of a state of emergency, and pursuant to the authority granted in me in my capacity as County Administrator, I am authorized to enter emergency orders necessary to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of the residents of Indian River County, including, without limitation, those orders authorized in chapter 252, Florida Statutes, and chapter 101 of the Code of Indian River County, and other applicable law; NOW, THEREFORE, this Emergency Order is issued declaring a mandatory burn ban for all areas of Indian River County, prohibiting all outdoor burning that has not been specifically permitted by the Florida Forestry Service. All outdoor burning of yard trash, household paper products, bonfires, campfires, warming fires, outdoor fireplaces, chimeneas, and cooking fires is prohibited unless 1) authorized by the Florida Forest Service, or 2) it is for the cooking of food exclusively within a gas or charcoal grill. Furthermore, the setting of fires to any grass, brush, or forest -covered land, unless authorized by the Florida Forest Service, shall constitute a violation of this order. THIS EMERGENCY ORDER shall be in effect throughout Indian River County from 8 a.m. on February 7, 2026, until further order. DONE AND ORDERED this 7t' day of February 2026. John A.
