TIMDAY, NO R 7th 1933
The Board of 4ounty Commissioners in and for Indian liver County, Florida,; met at
Court House in Vero Meath, at 10:00 o'clock A.M.Tuesday,=November 7th 1933, with the
following members of the Board presents J. J'. P.,HamiLton, Chairman; S. D. Yongue; R. E.
Mudge; Tohn M. Hnisht and Edwin A Helseth.

Also present were Miles Warren, Clerk and
The minutes of the previous meetins were read and approved.
It was ordered that William Yates, Fellsmere, be stricken from the pauper list
-payment made on this day.
Hon Angus Sumner, State Attorney and Hon C F Raulerson, State Senator, appeared and
requested that the County be divided into Districts and some suitable persons recommex
to the Governor for appointment as Inspector of Marks and Brands, and the same having
been carefully considered, the following resolution was offered by Co mmIssionner Young#
who moved that it be adopted, which motion was seconded by 8ommissioner lftdge:
01hereas a request has been made that Indian River County be divided into cattle
districts for the purpose of having inspectors of marks and brands appointed by the Gov-
ernor ofrthe State of Florida* _

districts$ and that the first district shall be as follows: Bunning at the point w
the towasship line between Townships 31 and 32 intersects with the Atlantic keen, thence
run West along said township line to the rare line dividing ranges 38 and 391 thence
south on said range line to the county lime of Indian River Gouty, thence east along
said county line to the Atlantic Ocean, thence northerly along said Atlantic Ocean to
point of beginning; and that the second district shall be as follows: All of Ranges 370
38 and that part of Range 39 north of the township line dividing townships 31 and 38;
and that the third district shall be as follows: All of Rimes 35 and 36 is Indian
River County,, Florida;"
Upon roil call being taken, the said resolution was duly passed,
It was ordered that the following persons be recommended to the Governor for
meat, under this resolution: Dist #1 A. Fa. Sueverkruebbe; District #2 Gilbert E.
and District #3
Mrs Beam Crocker appeared before the Board regarding the amount now being paid her
from the Mothers Pension Fund. It was ordered that this allowance be increased from
$8.00 to $12.00 per month.
W. G. woods, Fellsmere, appeared before the Board respecting a road out of
which is a continuation of New York Avenue in said City* It was agreed that work is to
done on this road the first opportunity.
The following bills of the Tag Assessor for ecmmissions on account of the 1933 tag
roll was submitted and duly considered and approved:

It was ordered that the City of Fellamere be granted the use of heavy grading out -
fir of the County at a cost of $5.00 per day and operating expensew. ,
It was moved by Commissioner Haight, .seconded by Commissioner Mudge that common
labor be set at lo5O per day for 9 hours labor on the roads, effective Nov 15th 1935.
Upon ireing put to a vote the following voted Yea: Comfrs Yongue; Mudge and Knight.
Nay: Comtrs Hamilton and Helseth.
The following resolution was introduced by Commissioner Mudge who moved its adop-
tion:-
1hereas, collections from taxes are insufficient to keep and maintain the Vabasso
Winter Beach & Fero Beach Bridges, special taxing districts in Indian River Countys,

be charged ou said bridges on and atter December 1st, 1935, and until the further order
of the Board# and the rates of said ton shall be, and the same are, hereby fixed# until

The Clerk was instructed to have tickets printed for such tolls and also arrange to

It was ordered that all taxes been collected on all lands before any authority is
given to out the timber on such lands.
It was ordered that the order heretofore entered on these minutes to employ the
County Attorney to enforce collection of personal property tax be rescinded.

There being no further business on motion made, seconded and carried, the Board then

SATURDAY, N®VEMR 11th 1933„
The Board of County Commissioners in and for Indian River County, Florida, met at the
Court douse in Vero Beach, at 2:30 P.M. Saturday, November 11th 1933, in special session,
with the following members of the Board.presents J.7.P.4amilton, Chairman; J. D. Yongue;
R. E. Mudge; John M. Knight and Edwin A Helseth. Also present were Miles warren,, Clerk
and William Frick, Sheriff,
The Chairman gnnounoed the meeting was called for the purpose of discussing with the
citizens of the County the question of placing tolis,on the respective draw bridges of
County.
Alex MacWilliams Mayor of Vero Beach, addressed the Board on the question of tolls
on the bridges. Dr. v►. H. Namisten then addressed the Board voicing his.,oppoeition to
a movement.
. F. Craves, addressed the Board respecting the aabasso Bridge and requested that
action on the question of tolls be not rescinded but suggested deferring action and asee
tain whether or not it will be possible for the State Road Department to take over the
'Bridge,
T. C. Thatcher, 'Secretary of Chamber of Commerce spoke with respect to the Vero Bridi
,onlyand the question of the State Road Department-takingA over this Bridge.
C. C. Cz?osby addressed the Board regarding all three bridges In the County and discus
j the question of trying to induce the State Road Department to take over all bridges.

A. B. Mi ohael, requested a financial statement of all three bridges which was given,
including balance cash and bonds and interest coupons outstanding and unpaid.
Attorney Chas A Mitchell advised that the 1931 session of the Legislature designated

all 3 bridges as a part .of the State Highway system, and saggseted that a resolution be
a
adopted requesting the State Highway Department to take the she a��rer for maintenance.

Whereas, said bridges are used to a considerable extent by traffic of a general
