The warrants * issued from the respective frauds being#listed completely,in the County Finance Record, as provided by law, reference to such record and the list so recorded being made a part o3 these minutes as fully and completely as if the same were set out herein in detail. The County Depository tile4,its monthly stgtement of r@ceipts and disbursements, which having been check was found to be correct. There being no further business on motion made, seconded and carried, the Board then 'adjourned. A T•, Chairman, C I e r k. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -!- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - SATURDAY, N®VEMR 11th 1933„ The Board of County Commissioners in and for Indian River County, Florida, met at the Court douse in Vero Beach, at 2:30 P.M. Saturday, November 11th 1933, in special session, with the following members of the Board.presents J.7.P.4amilton, Chairman; J. D. Yongue; R. E. Mudge; John M. Knight and Edwin A Helseth. Also present were Miles warren,, Clerk and William Frick, Sheriff, The Chairman gnnounoed the meeting was called for the purpose of discussing with the citizens of the County the question of placing tolis,on the respective draw bridges of County. Alex MacWilliams Mayor of Vero Beach, addressed the Board on the question of tolls on the bridges. Dr. v►. H. Namisten then addressed the Board voicing his.,oppoeition to a movement. . F. Craves, addressed the Board respecting the aabasso Bridge and requested that action on the question of tolls be not rescinded but suggested deferring action and asee tain whether or not it will be possible for the State Road Department to take over the 'Bridge, T. C. Thatcher, 'Secretary of Chamber of Commerce spoke with respect to the Vero Bridi ,onlyand the question of the State Road Department-takingA over this Bridge. C. C. Cz?osby addressed the Board regarding all three bridges In the County and discus j the question of trying to induce the State Road Department to take over all bridges. II A. B. Mi ohael, requested a financial statement of all three bridges which was given, including balance cash and bonds and interest coupons outstanding and unpaid. Attorney Chas A Mitchell advised that the 1931 session of the Legislature designated 1 all 3 bridges as a part .of the State Highway system, and saggseted that a resolution be a adopted requesting the State Highway Department to take the she a��rer for maintenance. The following resolution was introduced by Commissioner Knight, who moved its adoptic Whereas, the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River Cqunty'is-ut the present time maintaining the three bridges ;located in said, county and crossing the Indian River# w namely* those bridges located at Vero Beach, Winter Beach and Wabasso in said_Bounty; and Whereas, said Board of County Commissioners rinds it virtually impossible to con-- 'tinue the proper maintenaaoe'of said bridges; and Whereas, said bridges are used to a considerable extent by traffic of a general nature and originating outside of Indiana. River county; and 0 ed 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 0 Whereas# under the provisions of Chapter 15648 Picts of the Florida legislature of 1931 the highways in said county crossing said bridgesi and of which said bridges are a part, were duly designated as state roads, and it is therefore possible for the main- tenaaoe of said bridges to be taken over by the State Road Department upon resolution duly adopted by the said State Road Department; therefore# Be It Fesolved that the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County does herewith request the State Road Department to adopt such resolutions and tame such aotiol$ as may be nooessary Sae order that said State Road Department take over for maintenance the said bridges, namely, the bridges orossing the Indian River in said County at Vero I Beach, Winter Beach and Rabasso, respectively, and that upon so taking over said bridgesi the said Road Departmen$ continue to maintain the same and that such action be taken at the earliest possible moments in view of the immediate necessity for proper maintenance of said bri Use Be It; Burtbar Resolved that the clerk of the Board be instructed to transmit a cor- tified copy of this resolution to the State Road Department at Tallahassee# Florida, and a certified copy thereof to the Hon, Wo P. M00ty, Member of the State Road Department from this district, and that the officers of this Board be authorized and instructed to do any and all acts necessary to the carrying out of the provisions of this resolution. The above resolution was duly seconded and upon being put to a vote the same was unanimously adopted. It was moved, seconded and carried that the question of placing tolls on the Vero Beach; Winter Beach and Wabasso Bridges be deferred and no tolls be oolleoted on said Bridges until beginning January let 1934* The foregoing resolution was introduced by Commissioner 8. R Mudge. Whereas, at the -time of the freezing of deposits of :Farmers Bank of Vero Reach there was on deposit therein to the credit of Wo V.-Miott, as County Treasurer ex offici of Indian River County$- Florida, the sum of $6#01784770 ,118;?%, which said sum erose from tax collections in said county for the interest and sinking funds of special tax districts therein; H©w+ therefore, be it resolved by the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County„ Florida, that this Board does hereby recommend to the State -Board of kdministra- tion that in order to liquidate said frozen deposits that said Board of Administration aceept any bonds of any maturity of indiaa River County, Florida, or Its special tax dis- trioter in settlement and liquidation of the said deposit in the said bang, The foregoing resolution was duly seconded and upon being put to a vote was uneni- moasly. adopted The foregoing resolution was introduced by Commissioner R Br Mudge: 1hereas, at the time of the freezing of deposits in the Farmers Bank of Vero Beach there was on deposit therein to the credit of G. R. Olmstead, Tax Collector of Indian giver Bounty the an of $25,564653; to the credit of Indian River county general into; and distract account the sem of $?,189*65; all. of Which accounts are under the juris- diction of this Board; How, therefore$ be It resolved by the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida# that the above accounts be liquidated with the .Farmers Bank of Vero Beach by the acceptance by this Board of any obligations of any maturity of Indian River County or any of its special taxing districts, which shall be accepted by this Board at par In the settlement and liquidation of the said aocounts6 The foregoing resolution was duly seconded and being put to a vote was unanimously adopted,, There being no further business on motion made,.seconded and carried the Board then adjourned until the next regularsmeeting. Tuesday, December 5th 1933, with e < following members of the Beard presents J.J.P.Hamilton, Chairman; J. D. Yongue; R. B. Nadgel John K. Snight and Edwin A Helseth. also present were Niles warren, Clerk and wa. Frick, 'Sheriff. The minutes of the previous meetings were read and approved. w. H. tArne, architect, appeared before the Board respecting the application for a loan for construction of a Court House. it *as ordered that he be given authority to write Federal. Officials with reference to this loan. Walter 'S Buokingham, appeared regarding the Fox family and their request to be transferred to Foley, Florida, where the husband has secured work. It appearing to the Board this family is destitute and a charge upon the community, it was ordered that $20.E be appropriated to get them to Mey. Notary Public bond of Helen S. Luly in the sum of $500.00 with Columbia Casualty 00, a corporation, of New York as surety was approved. C. P. diamond, for their f! successful efforts to, materially reduce criminal costs and the cost of feeding the pri- soners during the year 1933 over previous years past. The Clerk announced that the County Commissioners of 3t Lucie County advised him thi a Bt Lucie County will be in position about January lot 1934 to take over any County con- j victs of this County, and it was ordered that at such time as convenient to .St Lucie r S III County* that a lease be made and entered into between said Counties to lease such County convicts of this County from time to time during the year 1934. It was moved by Commissioner Knight and seconded by Commissioner Helseth that C C common labor on the roads be set at 30.e per hour in accordance with the wage scale set b1 the Civil worts Administration of the Federal Goverment,. and that truck drivers be paid t - 35.0 per hour for their services.
