The Board of County Commissioners in and for Indian River County, Florida, met at the Court House in Vero Beach, at 10:00. o'clock A.M.Tuesday, January 2nd 1934, with the following members of the Board present: J. J.P. Hamilton, Chairman; J.D.Yongue; R.E. Ridge; John M. Knight ' and Edwin A. ffelseth. Villiam Prick, Sheriff. 9 ,Also present *ere Miles Warren, Clerk and The minutes of the previous meetings were read and approved. On motion made, seconded and carried J.J.P.Hamilton was unanimously selected as Chairman of the Board for the year 1934. On motion made, seconded and carried the firm of Vocelle & Mitchell was selected as Attorney for this Board for the year 1934 at acmonthly salary of 925.001, with the understand that Chas. A. Mitchell, of the f inn i s • to attend the regular Board meetings. Chas Kersey was selected as Road Superintendent at a monthly salary of 0100.00 p and Alex Davis was named as Janitor at the salary - o£ 025.00 per month. The salary of the Clerk to this Board was continued at 950.00 per month and the salary of the County Judge as Judge of the Ruvenile Court was set at 525.00 per month. Mi as Leila, Bunkley appeared befo re the Bo and, regarding Mr s Roscoe Douglass whose husband is now,in Jail, and also Will Parry, negro, and advised that both were in need of assistance.. E'o. action being taken on the request. . The time having arrived for the opening of bids submitted for the proposed purchase of a motor -cycle for County use, each bids as submitted were opened and read by the Clerk. .After e,one'idering the same, it was ordered that the matter of purchasing such machine be deferred until the next regular meeting of this Board. As provideVd by lawa list of Confederate pensioners of this County was received from the estate gbmptroller and carefully checked over and found to be correct,. same were approved and aordeeed transmitted hack to the .Comptroller. The Deputy Sheriff bond 'of Richard Plisha Barker in the sum of $19000.00 .with ITational Surety. Coarporation, a corporation .was approved. The Deputy eriff bond of Edwin wa 1tir Him lton in the sum of 01,000.00 with National Surety Corporation, a corporation ,as ,surety was approved. The Depi:ty. Sheriff bond of Robert Leith Carrouthers, in the sum of $19000..00. with National Surr6tj Corporation, a corporation,' as surety was approved. . The followini resolution was offered by Commissioner Knight who moved its, adoption: y WHERUIII the board of Administration lias ,submitted certain proposals of persons, f irms and corporations offering to sell to said Board, bonds of the. County of Indiata River, under the provisions of House Bill 80. '309' .Acts of the 1933 session of the, Legislature ,° and, WHERTAS, after carefully considering all _of `such proposals, and considering the' amount of fuhds" available with said Board of a administration, for this purpose, and taking into consideration all existing conditions, it is deemed advisable to approve' the purchase of certain bonds; THEREF01% BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Indian H Iver County, Florida, in regular session that the Board of � dministration be requested to purchase for account of this County and Special Road & Bridge District therein the following bonds, to -wit: One (1) Bt.lucie County Public Highway- bond due Feb 1,1932 at a price of 39 flat. Two (2) 'St Iueie County Read.& ib cls 5* bonds --due dune 1, 1935 at a price of 38 flat. One (1) Special R&B- Dist #1 ('St Lucie Co.) bond, dated dune., 1 1918 due duly 19 1942 at a prise of 34 flat. SII The foregoing resolution being duly seconded by Commissioner Helseth, and upon be put to a vote the same was unanimously adopted. As provided by law the Board of County Commissioners proceeded to -select from the a jurors i n the Count of Con a ®f arsons to serve s y registration books of the County name � g y P. It was ordered that Mrs Jessie Yates, Fellsniere, be allowed an additional 05.«00 dor month from the pauper fund. 47 It was ordered that Mrs Mary A. Mathis, Vero Benachs RFD #2 be placed on the pauper > • d list to receive the sum of $6.00 per month. . . It was ordered that C. R. Hatch, Sebastian, be placed on the pauper list to receive P O y the sun of $6.00 per month. ` The sum of $1.500.00 having been received from the `State on account of proceeds from State Racing Commission, and taking into consideration the budget as prepared aa°hd the > . a financial condition of the County at this time, it was ordered that same be pla;eedl irri the General Revenue Fund.. The report of the 'state .Auditor on h ! J p the condition of the .School funds and the activzt Lee of the School Board for the, period ending December let 1933 was received, inspeleted, sand ordered filed as a part of the public records of the - County, as provided by law-. The Vero Beach Prese-Journal was designated as the official newspaper in which the delinquent taxes. for ,the year 1933 shall be advertised in the year 1934. �I The following; resolution was unanimously adopted: BE IT RESOLVJ'D, .that all rents due the County from tenants occupying offices in the Court Rouse buildings. shall be payable on the first day of each month in advance for that • n w m 9 month and that no tenant shall be permitted to - occupy arW space in the Court House° bui.ldf g after becoming delinquent for forty days; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Sheriff of this County ap custodian of the County Court House, is instructed to disposses any tenant in said building, whose rent - has not be paid on or before the 10th of the month,next succeeding the month for which said rent is due and unpaid. • , The following resolution was unanimously adopted: WEZMA39 on all tax redemptionsaid to the Clerk of the Circuit 'Court, t, interest is compiled on the County's portion of said taxes; ands" WMUMSs such interest is usually in small a= and it is virtually impossible -to -mak C i an accurate division of the same among the various funds of the County; therefore,• BE IT RESOLVED# that the Clerk of the Circuit Court be, and he is, instructed to- pla e the Countys' portion of interest on tax redemptions to the credit of the Countys' Board of Public Instruction, general fund.
